Recap: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Episode 32 – Encounter! Kyoryu!

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

Not knowing where they are, Yanma suggests they go speak with the king of this land. But they encounter Zorimas rounding up people seemingly in some kind of stupor. Gira and Yanma whip out their Caliburs to take the Zorimas on. But Rippukan Souji arrives and easily takes care of the grunts with a few swipes.

Gira henshins, but Yanma is unable to. Gira tries taking on an embiggened Zorima, but just gets swatted down. Just then, a young man in red comes flying in and slashes at the embiggened Zorima, defeating it. The finisher, however, ends up snapping his sword in half. Souji scolds him for being so reckless and reminds his student, Prince, that his sword is his partner and must treat it as such.

Gira interrupts them and asks if by his name “Prince,” does that literally mean the next in line to the throne. Prince says nope, he’s going become this planet’s king.

Meanwhile, Kaguragi finds himself at a grape vineyard. The farmer offers him some grapes to try, but they are interrupted by Debo Senking who takes offense to Kaguragi not knowing who he is.

Senking shoots at them, but the farmer shields Kaguragi and gets his Brave sucked out of him, causing him to be a lazy slob. Kaguragi tries to henshin, but cannot. That’s when Udo Nobuharu pops in, introduces himself as a member of the Sentai Kyoryuger and helps Kaguragi and the farmer escape.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

Deep in the forest, Jeramie, Hymeno and Rita seek refuge from the heat in a nearby cave. They find a strange wall of hieroglyphs being uncovered by Ian Yorkland who explains the mural chronicles the Kyoryugers’ history over 2000 years. Rita demands he bring them to people.

The Ohgers reunite at a resistance shelter. Souji tells Gira and Yanma that they are currently in Japan and asks where the two of them are from. When the others arrive, the Kyoryugers proceed to explain the current situation.

After having defeated the Deboth Army ten years ago, Dagded appeared on Earth with a Deboth who sucked the Brave out of people. That Brave gave people courage and the spirit of justice. But now, without Brave, the Kyoryugers can’t even henshin.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

They are not giving up, however. Daigo and Utchi have gone into space to chase after Dagded. And in the meantime, the rest of them have remained on Earth to search for anything they can about Dagded as well as the mysterious mural. Jeramie thinks there are a lot of similarities between their situations.

Nobu thinks the Ohgers must be from another timeline. Just like how Prince was sent from another timeline’s future as he is supposed to be the most powerful Brave hero ever. Hymeno has no idea what they’re talking about, but Yanma thinks it’s very cool.

Yanma walks over to Prince and offers to fix his sword. While he does that, Prince asks Candelilla and Luckyuro to help him train some more. Souji apologizes to Yanma for that. Yanma says he’s just a kid. But Gira knows there must be something special about Prince.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

Souji says Prince has incredible potential that he has not been able to tap into yet. They haven’t been able to do much without their Brave and with their Zyudenryu captured by the Deboth. Souji thinks Prince would be unstoppable if he had a Zyudenryu of his own, their only hope.

Rita thinks the Zyudenryu must be like the Shugods. Yanma asks how Gira can henshin if the Shugods are not here on Earth.

Gira, however, has an idea to wake the sleeping king within Prince. Next day, Yanma gives Prince his fixed sword. Gira comes cackling and challenges Prince to a duel to determine who will be king of this land.

Prince is confused at first, but accepts the challenge. While they battle, Gira henshins and mocks Prince.

Prince remembers Souji’s words about ensuring your sword is your partner. He is resolved to protect Earth. And when Gira tries attacking, Prince is able to counter and force Gira out of his henshin.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

Just then, Kuwagon fills a Zyudenchi and Gira says Prince has earned his respect. Gira wondered that if Kuwagon was a guardian spirit, then maybe his power could live inside a Zyudenchi too.

Prince realizes what Gira was trying to do. Gira explains that Souji really believes in him.

Just then, the Deboth Army has returned for the day and they all hurry outside. Senking vows to take them all down. But the Ohgers and Prince stand firm. Yanma calls Prince a king before both Prince and Gira henshin.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 32 Recap

While the other Ohgers do what they can against the Zorimas, Gira and Prince, now as King Kyoryu Red, team up and easily finish off Senking. The stolen Brave floats back to their owners.

However, Kabutobushin Deboth says this is only the beginning. He sets off a wave of explosions across the city. As the other Kyoryugers try to get the refugees to safety, Souji gets buried in rubble.

Meanwhile, Amy is in the forest and finds the imprisoned Zyudenryu.

Back at the mural, Jeramie is shocked to see what Ian has just uncovered and asks what this planet is called. Ian says it is called Chikyuu. Jeramie realizes that their two planets share similar names, but are completely different. And that his father and his people migrated to Chikyuu (チキュー) from Earth (地球).

Episode Thoughts

Like I said last week, I’m not the biggest fan of Kyoryuger (I’m more of a Dino Force Brave guy myself lol), but it was nice to see familiar faces here.

These two episodes will definitely feel like a bit of a breather (the first time this season? Lol) from the rest of the plot heavy story. That is even though the cliffhanger teased a direct connection between the Chikyuuians and Earth. But we’ll see how that plays out next week.

This episode definitely played out like your typical crossover/team-up special. Separating the teams so they can meet their counterparts from the other team and then coming together to face the mutual threat.

The episode was good in that you didn’t really need to have watched Kyoryuger to understand what was going on. And my having watched as least 2/3 of the season at least gives me some kind of connection to the Kyoryugers, even if I’m not as excited as I would be for other returning Sentai teams.

Anyway, this crossover/anniversary special has a solid story so far. And depending on how they connect “Earth” and the history of Chikyuu, it should be interesting to see how, if at all, this two-part special plays into King-Ohger‘s story.

Perfectly fine if it stands on its own. Pretty cool if it actually ends up being consequential to the next 20 episodes of the season.

Overall, a fun, cool and enjoyable episode.

  1. I love watching it when Super Sentai dpoes crossover so this eps. was a treat. So curious as to see what happnes next week.

  2. Love the Gaburincho! Great to see them again. Too bad they couldnt get Ryo Ryusei and Atsushi Maruyama I guess

  3. You are right i didn’t watch kyoryuger still understand what is happening I got two theories from this episode 1 for crossover 1 for plot
For crossover it’s not only mine theory if prince is from future timeline he could be daigo and Amy’s son
For plot when yanma said they can’t henshin because of no shogods their but gira henshin and god kwuagata came inside from gira out of nowhere makes my speculation more than rainbow jurulia was actually god kwugata’s soul piece that’s why gira can understand shogods language

  4. Yeah it’s feel strange to see king ohger giving us time to breath and having a ‘two parter’ episode but I am sure as soon as they get back to their world dugded must have created some shit afterall he is the one who send them their
