Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 86 – Uprising

After the jump, Commander Garth welcomes the Erthuians to the planet of Boazan. Zambojil orders Oslak and Zander to also welcome these new arrivals with the force of their saucers army.

The Voltesers hop into Voltes V and struggle against the saucers. Oslak wants to use their most powerful sandata. But as soon as he does, Solar Falcon is able to shoot it right off their saucer.

Zambojil is annoyed by all these repeated defeats so he orders the release of his empire’s most powerful weapon: Negatron. Zambojil presses the attack button himself. Garth tells Dr. Hook that he’s not sure if Hrothgar prepared for this one.

Oslak says they’re also going to get burned alive by Negatron’s power. But Zander says Peace out and teleports himself away from the saucer before it melts away, Oslak included.

Dr. Hook orders the Voltesers back to Solar Falcon. They fear they are about to burn alive as well. But Garth believes there is a little butas in the rings of Boazan that has just enough electromagnetic radiation energy to allow them to escape Negatron’s fiery waves.

Mark is initially skeptical of the plan, but eventually gives in and they try it. Zambojil celebrates his win, thinking they’ve been incinerated by Negatron. But actually, Solar Falcon makes it through the very small butas and everyone’s safe.

Zambojil orders to deploy all the saucers they have left, but cowers in fear that he might actually lose.

Garth broadcasts across Boazan, calling on the rebels to rise up and finally take their planet back from their oppressors.

Episode Thoughts

Not gonna lie, it was quite thrilling hearing Garth call out to the rebels and alipins to rise up. That’s the kind of exciting space drama we want to see. Not annoying stories about the love lives of PKs. Lol

This episode I think is emblematic of one of the show’s problems. And that is how they present problems for our heroes only to quickly resolve them within minutes. There is no real struggle for the Voltesers and that kind of dilutes the threats and the dangers they might face. In turn, diminishing the impact of any of the Voltesers heroic acts.

Oh well, just four episodes left! We’ll get through this y’all!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
