Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 87 – Domination

Zandra is with a still unconscious Zardoz in her family’s castillo. She again apologizes for having brought him back to Boazan, knowing he would not like it. When Zardoz wakes up, Zandra informs him of the impending collapse of Zambojil’s empire and shows him scenes across the planet of alipin rebels laying waste to their previously horn-controlled lands. And it is all thanks to the arrival of the Erthuians.
Zandra begs Zardoz to run away for a couple of years, get stronger and then come back. But Zardoz refuses.
Alipin rebels inside the castle have risen up and overwhelmed Zambojil’s soldiers. Hrothgar is released from his holding cell and is able to call Commander Garth who then allows the emotional father and sons to speak to each other. They all vow to finish this battle alive and have a wonderful reunion.

The Voltesers use Voltes V Tank Mode to break through the barrier around the castle. Dr. Hook and Commander Garth lead troops on the ground as they storm in.
Zambojil has no idea where to go now. Zardoz and Zandra arrive inside the castle and Zardoz is shocked to see him trying to run away. Zardoz cannot believe the man he looked up to is such a coward. Zambojil says none of this would be happening if Zardoz had just done what he was supposed to do on Erthu.
Zardoz says Zambojil does not deserve to live and he whips his sword out. Zandra, realizing what is about to happen, shields Zardoz from Zarmbojil’s gunshot. She tries shooting Zambojil, but he runs off.

Zandra collapses in Zardoz’s arms. With her last breaths, Zandra says she has cherished every moment she’s spent with Zardoz, the man she loves so much.
Zandra dies in her mahal’s arms.
Episode Thoughts
Actually a pretty good episode. Mostly because it focuses more on Zardoz and friends rather than the Voltesers being sanctimonious and annoying lolol
I actually think Zandra’s end was fine. Still feels like a chop-chop job since it feels so long ago since she had whisked Zardoz away to safety. So maybe they could’ve “reintroduced” them in this episode and then killed her off tomorrow. Or, whichever two episodes it could’ve fit in. Maybe have them pop up yesterday and then do both Zardoz and Zandra reacting as the city is being rocked by explosions, etc.
Oh well. I think I would like to see Zardoz killing Zambojil after finding out he never loved him, etc. And I hope the Armstrong Family face off is good.
We’ll see! Three episodes left!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
