Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 60 – Mechanical Eagle

Voltes V Legacy Episode 60 Recap

Oslak is so confident that his Beastfighter Okozenia will defeat Voltes V that he prepares a toast with Zardoz and Zandra. The Voltes team whips out their whip and tops and then the Laser Sword, but Okozenia’s impenetrable armor has Voltes V on their back. Suddenly, a Mechanical Eagle comes flying in and somehow breaks down that armor with a Light Beam Generator. That allows the Voltes team to finish off Okozenia for good.

Zandra chuckles as Oslak is shocked.

Back at CBF, Dr. Hook says the mysterious Mechanical Eagle is proof that there are other aliens out in space that also believe in peace like them.

Later, Dr. Hook explains how the Boazanian steel was able to repel their attacks. And so he has been able to replicate the Mechanical Eagle’s Light Beam in order to develop the Ultraelectromagnetic Beast Canon. Unfortunately, they are having trouble attaching it to Voltes V because of the immense amount of power it needs.

That’s why they hope to draw power from lightning like the Laser Sword in order to form an Ultraelectromagnetic Ball. But it will take some time to accomplish that and the needed repairs.

Jamie hopes Mechanical Eagle will continue to come to their rescue and wonders if Ned Armstrong is behind it.

Back in the ocean, Oslak admits that Zambojil ordered him to create a Beastfighter to destroy Voltes V and then take Zardoz’s throne. Instead of punishing him, Zardoz forgives him as long as he helps in the fight against Voltes V and works with Zandra and Draco.

Meanwhile, Jamie walks past Steve and Eva and Eva snarks that Jamie is trying to spy on them. Jamie says she could care less what Steve and Eva do with their lives because she already has a boyfriend. Jamie grabs Mark over and introduces him to them as the lucky guy.

Eva congratulates them and says they are very bagay. Steve has no choice but to agree. Mark thanks Steve and says he is pleasantly surprised to hear that. He thanks Jamie too, saying he never even expected this.

Back down in the lungga, Zandra and Draco are begrudgingly impressed by Oslak’s skills in developing Beastfighters.

Episode Thoughts

Can’t even celebrate #MaMie moments since we know this is not going to end well for sadboy Mark. He’s gonna get his heart broken all because the childhood sweethearts like to paligoy-ligoy. Hmph. Lol

The scene where the Voltes team, Dr. Hook and Commander General Robinson were talking about the technical stuff was kinda boring and definitely a bit of an expository dump.

Zardoz and Co.’s drama was a bit more interesting. Again, it’s fun to see the in-fighting between the generals. But I do hope Zardoz isn’t so gullible all the time. It’s been on and off for him and later on, that might affect what should be good character development for him. Especially when it reaches the big reveal of his identity.

Overall, a relatively good episode to end the week with. Not the strongest week. But at least this episode was alright. Only four more weeks left? (Or six if they’re really going to force the 10 episode extension. Which, I hope not lol)

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 60 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
