Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 56 – Big Surprise

Voltes V Legacy Episode 56 Recap

Little Jon wants to go look for Papa Armstrong, but Big Bert says they won’t be able to just leave CBF whenever they want. Big Bert blames himself for their father being taken away and feels guilty for now losing Mama Armstrong, Judy and now their father.

Big Bert thinks he’s a failure. But Little Jon says he’s just fat. Anyway, they are sure they’ll be together again in the future.

Elsewhere at camp, Jamie walks into her room and is shocked to find Mark waiting inside and her room turned into a wonderful Japanese date spot. Mark says he was able to make her smile the last time he did something like this. So he wanted to do it again.

Jamie thanks Mark and they sit down to eat. But someone is at the door and she lets them in. Turns out it’s Steve and he apologizes for interrupting. Jamie asks if he wants to eat with them, but he says it’s alright and he leaves, sulking outside the door.

Mark tries to shift the mood back to their meal and says he learned how to cook all this Japanese food since he knows it’s Jamie’s favorite. Jamie takes a bite and says it’s so delicious, Mark could become a chef. “Or your boyfriend?” he jokingly adds.

Meanwhile, Zambojil orders Zuhl to kill Zardoz in order to end all their problems. Zuhl makes an attempt later that evening, but Zardoz expected it and planted a trap, catching him in the act.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 56 Recap

Next day, the PK members… the Voltes team minus-Mark meet Dr. Hook at EDFHQ. Mark is back at CBF as the OIC while they’re gone, but Dr. Hook connects him so he can be in the discussion as well. They are here because they have captured a Boazanian. And after the many instances in the past, Dr. Hook vowed to never let a Boazanian set foot on CBF ever again. That’s why they’re here at EDF instead.

EDF troops drag the Boazanian into EDF’s command center and it turns out to be Zuhl!

Dr. Hook introduces him as one of Boazan’s head scientists and Zuhl confirms he created all the Beastfighters. Big Bert wants to hurt Zuhl for killing their Mama, but Zuhl says he’s not here as a kaaway. He’s here to seek help and to become friends.

Dr. Hook says they have taken precautions to ensure Zuhl will not be a threat to EDF. Zuhl insists that they will not regret taking him in. He says he’s just here to seek safety from their cruel and oppressive leader Prince Zardoz. Steve remembers when Judalah told him about Zardoz before she disappeared.

Zuhl pleads with them and admits that he is a general, but he no longer agrees with Zardoz’s mission. Steve and Mark say it’s hard to pity or believe him when he helped attack Earth and kill Mama Armstrong and Dr. Smith.

Zuhl says he escaped to get away from Zardoz’s kalupitan and mistreatment of anyone below him. He just wants his freedom. The Voltes team do not believe any of it. Zuhl says he will bring them to Zardoz’s secret base in order to prove himself.

Little Jon says they must check that location in case Papa Armstrong is there. Mark says this could just be another trap like all the other teams before.

Zuhl says they have other human captors at their secret base and it’s possible Ned Armstrong is there. Big Bert and Little Jon insist they go to that place. Mark protests, saying they are being just budol’d again with another Boazanian taking advantage of their weakness in being so thirsty for parentals. Jamie yells at Mark.

Steve asks Dr. Hook what he thinks and he says they have a way to check if he’s telling the truth or not.

Episode Thoughts

Mark is definitely the All-Star today! Which of course makes this a great episode!

First, I will definitely savor the wonderful MaMie moment at the start of the episode. Of course their romantic relationship, or potential for one, is doomed. So just enjoy the fleeting moment. And enjoy seeing Steve score another L too. Lol

Meanwhile, obviously it’s another trap by the Boazanians. Mark warned them, but the Voltes team is incredibly gullible. So of course most of them will believe Zuhl. Lol They will never learn!

But anyway, I will guess that Dr. Hook probably sends fakes to Zardoz’s lair. Maybe five androids or something. Doing exactly to Zardoz what they’ve done to them.

Also, finally an episode title that actually suits the episode! “Big Surprise!”

Overall, a solid episode elevated very much by how awesome Mark is. Lol

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 56 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

But not yet as of this posting.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
