Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 39 – Ultra Marcon
Commander General Robinson addresses the leaders of the world and asks them to unite to help the CBF and Voltes V who are losing at the moment.
Dr. Smith and the CBF command center are all defeated, thinking this is the absolute end of them. That is until military forces from the rest of the world arrive to actually come help.
Over in the medical bay, Steve has Little Jon unbuckle only him. The others protest, but Steve says he will go on his own to keep them from danger. But soon enough the others are able to convince Little Jon to unbuckle them too. Dr. Alvarez has no choice but to just let them go. She asks them to stay safe for their mother.
They run into Steve in the hallway. He is upset that they’re here, but Jamie yells that she can’t just let him go alone because she is in love with him. The two of them stare at each other until Dr. Smith arrives to tell them to stop wasting time.
Dr. Smith introduces them to Ultra Marcon, an auxiliary ultraelectromagnetic generator designed by Papa Armstrong. It has not been fully tested, but it’s their only hope. Dr. Smith warns they might die if things go wrong. But the Voltes team is ready.
They hop into their Volt Machines and Dr. Smith orders the activation of Ultra Marcon as they attempt to Volt In. Ultra Marcon gets a direct hit from the Beastfighter. But Little Jon sees that Ultra Marcon is repressing the Beastfighter’s power. He tells the others to follow his lead to allow them to do the same. And it works.
The Voltes team is able to use Ultra Marcon to destroy Namazuka’s counter weapon. That allows them to finally Volt In.
Episode Thoughts
My goodness. That Steve/Jamie moment just ruined this entire episode! lololol Completely unnecessary and irrelevant. And gross! Dr. Smith said it best. Stop wasting everyone’s time with that nonsense! Lolol
Anyway, these 15 minute episodes really are increasingly hurting the pacing of the show. You can’t feel the build up to big moments. And then the big moments get stifled with the way they chop them up between episodes.
Some fun action scenes, again. The show’s saving grace. But Lol at the defeatist attitude in the CBF command center after only 5 minutes of attacks. That’s what I mean when the show’s pacing affects how everything comes across.
But overall, just okay.
Voltes V: Legacy Episode 39 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!
(Full, unbroken-up episode should be posted tomorrow, as of this post.)
I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
