Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 36 – Bombos

Taking the lead this time, Zuhl says he is waiting for Zardoz to give the go-signal for him to send out the new Beastfighter Bombosz. Zardoz says to go ahead as he is eager to find out what Bombosz can really do.

Over at CBF, Steve is seething with jealousy as Jamie and Mark are having fun getting ready to enjoy their lunch together. But they are interrupted when Bombosz begins rampaging in the city.

The alarms sound and the Voltes team heads to their Machines. The Beastfighter is actually attacking close to where General Robinson is attending a defense conference.

What the Voltes team does not know is that Bombosz is analyzing every single part and move of the Volt Machines and eventually Voltes V when they combine. Bombosz takes photos and scans of the Machines, quickly transmitting them back to Zardoz at their ocean base.

The Voltes team have no problem taking care of Bombosz, but the Beastfighter has already gotten what it came to Earth for. Back at CBF, the team and Dr. Smith wonder why the Beastfighter was so easy to defeat. Steve and Big Bert think it was just weak. But Mark suggests that the Beastfighter might have been some kind of decoy. Jamie agrees and Dr. Smith says they will just have to find out when the next Beastfighter pops up.

Down in the ocean, Zuhl and the other generals look over Bombosz’s findings. Zuhl says Voltes V uses ultraelectromagnetic technology which Hrothgar most likely brought to Earth. With this new data, they will be able to create a Beastfighter that can finally match up with the Voltes robo.

At CBF, Steve is excited to see Jamie eating alone. But when he approaches, Mark beats him to the seat next to Jamie. Mark gives Jamie a book of ninja history which he bought specially for her. She says he’s very sweet and thanks him for it.

As Steve buys his soda and looks very kawawa, Mark asks Jamie if she wants to hang out on the recreational deck later. Jamie glances over to Steve who is walking away, but says sure to hanging out with Mark.

Later, Jamie sees Steve on the deck and asks if he wants to come with for a run. He says not today, but Jamie says they used to habulan when they were kids and she was never able to catch him. But now she wants to run because she finally has a chance.

Steve says he has something else to do right now. Jamie says he’s just scared that she will catch him, but she will take him up on his offer next time. After she leaves, Steve says “Nahuli mo na ako Jamie, di mo lang alam.”

Meanwhile on Boazan, a very much alive Hrothgar is with the alipins as they plan for their eventual attempt at overthrowing the oppressive emperor.

But Zambojil’s forces find the not-so-secret rebel camp. The alipins tell Hrothgar to escape as they cannot afford to have him captured. Hrothgar runs away before the Boazanian soldiers break through the shield.

Episode Thoughts

A pretty good episode. Of course, the main focus was on Zuhl’s plan to gather the information they need to counter Voltes V. Which they did successfully. It’s funny though how the Voltes team sees the obvious problem, yet basically just says “Oh well.” lol “We’ll find out when it happens.” Okay, good luck with that! lol

Meanwhile, lots of fun #MaMie moments. We must enjoy them while we have them! Lol #KawawaSteve was funny to see because it is so opposite to his cocky yabang PK attitude. Which is his true self! Not this kawawa-ness. So no show, you aren’t going to get me to feel sorry for him that another, better guy might take the girl he likes away from him. Snooze you lose bro! lol

With Hrothgar popping up, I must nitpick about the direction and editing of that scene. Like, add some dramatic music and tension to that scene. It’s a big moment, but instead it was like, wala lang. Like, yeah, he’s here. Whatever.

I mean, come on now. We want the overdramtic music dropping when Hrothgar turns around and lowers his hood, etc!

It was good to see the fighting at the rebel camp though. Having ground battles can help to make the Voltes battles feel less repetitive.

Also, why no communication between the show, the social media intern and the YouTube team of GMA? They can’t get the spelling of “Bomboz”/”Bomboz” straight. It’s actually really embarrassing, to be honest.

But for the episode itself, a pretty good one to start the week with.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
