Recap: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Episode 15 – A Visit to Suzume

Kaguragi is visiting with a fortune teller whose words make him think Suzume is in trouble. Kuroda pops in with a call from Racules who wants Kaguragi to introduce him to Jeremy, but in a welcoming way. Kaguragi obliges and asks Kuroda to contact Jeremy.

Kuroda asks how Suzume is doing, but Kaguragi says she is strong and there is no need to worry.

Later, Kaguragi has Jeremy at the palace enjoying a meal as he tells him about going to meet Racules. Jeremy comments that kids these days have no respect for their elders. Kaguragi pretends to cry and Kuroda immediately thinks something is wrong with Suzume.

Kaguragi says there’s nothing to worry about with his sister and he heads to the balcony. Kuroda tells Jeremy that Suzume is Kaguragi’s precious little sister whom he holds dearly to his heart.

Kuroda goes on to explain that due to the Wrath of God 15 years ago, the world had a great famine. The king of Toufu hoarded all the remaining food and starved his people. That’s when Kaguragi incited a rebellion on behalf of the people, leading him to become king.

Kaguragi has a deal with Racules for the use of special Demi-ShuGods who help care for the farmlands of the kingdom. But it comes with a price.

Over in N’Kosopa, Yanma and Gira are having a video chat with Hymeno and Rita about Racules and Kaguragi being so well-behaved lately. Hymeno wonders if they ae conspiring together.

Jeremy walks in and jokes that he’s walked into a royal gossip session. He offers up that there might be a good reason for Kaguragi’s two-faced nature. The others refuse to even entertain Jeremy. Gira says he is not suspicious of Kaguragi.

Jeremy surprises them with the fact that Kaguragi has a sister named Suzume. She was sickly as a child and Kaguragi took steps to protect her, his only family. She is currently living as a hostage in Racules’ castle. But her official position is stated as a potential fiancé for Racules.

Gira laughs maniacally and says they should go take Kaguragi’s sister, in turn saving Kaguragi as well as embarrassing Racules.

Yanma, Hymeno and Rita team up to help Gira sneak into the castle by disguising him as a taxi. As he crawls toward the castle, he runs into Kogane playing with the other kids. But she is not as good an evil king as Gira and she gets sad when the kids mention his name.

Gira has to run away from a potential passenger who wants to ride him.

Over in the castle, Racules welcomes Jeremy, thanks him for coming and wants to know more about the possibility of humans and Bugnarak being able to work together. Jeremy says it won’t be easy, so Racules offers to negotiate that peace.

Jeremy will agree if Racules releases Kaguragi’s sister and allows her to return to Toufu. Kaguragi is taken aback, but Jeremy says no one knows how long you have with your family. So he would like Kaguragi to cherish those moments.

Kaguragi is very thankful for Jeremy’s kind gesture. But Racules says he regrets he cannot grant that request. It is up to Suzume, not him.

Meanwhile, Gira is able to climb into Suzume’s room. He has trouble waking her up. But when she does, Gira laughs maniacally and says he’s here to kidnap her. So of course, Suzume screams.

As they are walking, Kaguragi hears the screams and hurries to Suzume’s tower. Gira hides under the bed. Suzume is surprised to see her brother who is expressing how worried he is for her. He is happy to see she is fine, however.

Suzume asks Kaguragi what he’s doing here. But when Racules comes into her room, she shoves her brother aside and rushes to fawn all over Racules.

Racules tells Suzume about the offer, but she says she is in love with Racules and wants to stay here. She says she has felt so much better living here in the Shugoddam castle rather than back home in Toufu. And she wants to die here in Shugoddam and be buried with Racules.

Suzume says she would never forgive her brother if he ever took her away from her love.

Racules makes a different offer. He will help negotiate human-Bugnarak peace if Toufu agrees to be a vassal state.

Just then, Boshimar comes in to inform Racules that the other kings are here to meet with him. They head to the throne room where Yanma, Hymeno and Rita all disagree with Racules acting on his own regarding human-Bugnarak relations. But Racules says their alliance is over and has no intention of being aligned with them any longer.

“Right, Kaguragi?” Racules asks. Hymeno asks Kaguragi whose side he is on and after some thought, Kaguragi says Toufu will honor peace. He bows and pledges loyalty and devotion to Racules in the name of his country’s prosperity.

Down in the tunnels, Kamejim tasks Baejim with stealing God Tarantula and doesn’t care what Baejim does with the pest humans. So Baejim begins the attack on Shugoddam.

Kaguragi tells the others to leave this to him so he can show how he himself will protect Shugoddam. Kaguragi henshins and tears through Sanagims before focusing on Baejim. Gira has just jumped out of Suzume’s tower and also henshins to help take care of the grunts.

Baejim kindly asks Kaguragi to hand over the Tarantula treasure. Kaguragi appreciates the honesty, but he says if you want something, you have to remember to deceive.

Kaguragi delivers a finisher at Baejim, but the Bugnarak embiggens as he apologizes for the trouble. Jeremy arrives and asks to allow him to finish this off. He hops into God Tarantula and debuts its Knight form.

With the new form, Jeremy has no problem flying around to take on Baejim and ultimately finish it off for good.

Back on the ground, Kaguragi is taken aback by Gira’s odd appearance. But anyway, he appreciates Jeremy helping to bring about a good conclusion. Jeremy says he’s hopelessly weak when it comes to family. But he wanted to apologize for earlier.

Nonsense, Kaguragi says, as long as the people of Toufu, including Suzume, are eating well with smiles on their face, everything is worth it. Gira scolds him and says he should stop just brushing things off. He would like to see Kaguragi smile as well.

Gira says he saw how worried Kaguragi was for his sister, even if deep down inside. He knows that man is not a liar.

Kaguragi appreciates Gira’s words as well. But they need not worry.

Suzume watches from the tower and says she will also get her hands dirty if it means protecting Toufu.

Later, Jeremy joins Racules, Kaguragi and Douga at the entrance to the tunnels of the Bugnarak’s lair. Jeremy offers to accompany Racules, but Racules would like to go alone.

Jeremy recounts a passage from the great story. The true treasure is human and Bugnarak working together side-by-side and being at peace.

Racules comes face to face with Desnarak.

Episode Thoughts

A good episode. It was a great introduction to the Dybowski siblings. The way they revealed their similar (exactly the same?) natures in how to deal with others and how to find what’s best for each situation was really good. Though at the same time, I wouldn’t have minded if they actually did make Suzume into some shallow Racules fangirl-type of person. It would actually be quite amusing, especially in the way it made Racules quite awkward and uncomfortable lol, continuing that trend. Which is good also to soften Racules and keep him from becoming too contemptable.

But this really was a great episode to learn more about Kaguragi and the Toufunians. The plot of the episode was good in setting the information about Kaguragi on the table. The others had a lesser impact on the episode with the focus on Kaguragi, Jeremy and Racules. So that offered something nice and different from the previous weeks.

Overall, it was an interesting and enjoyable episode. Pretty straightforward with not much surprises. But well done and did what it had to do.
