Recap: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Episode 33 – Shugo! King and Kyoryu!!

Kabutobushin Deboth has to retreat when his body is unable to adapt to the Brave he’s sucked in. Prince and the Ohgers return to the evacuation center. Hymeno helps with the injured Souji. But the other survivors are feeling down and defeated.

Gira lets out a guffaw and orders everyone to laugh as despair only feeds their enemies. The Ohgers pitch in to help clean up and everyone’s spirts are immediately raised. Nobu’s sister and niece hand Kaguragi some normal Earth clothes so the Ohgers don’t stand out too much.

Nobu and Kagu-chan bond over their love for their sisters as well as them both looking older than they really are.

Rita, meanwhile, thinks Luckyuro is as cute and fluffy as Moffun. And Hymeno joins Candelilla by playing the piano for the survivors. Candelilla says the world doesn’t even know how to listen to music anymore.

Yanma tells Gira that they need to find a way off of this planet. Gira says defeating the Deboth Army should be their priority. Jeramie arrives to tell the other Ohgers what he’s found out.

Though their Chikyuu shares the same name as this Earth they are on right now, they are different worlds. Based on the mural, a great war 2000 years ago caused some humans to fly into space to search for a new home. Those people ended up their ancestors who established Chikyuu as tribute to their former home planet.

Jeramie says the mural was created by his father. Kaguragi points out that it must match up with the mural at CaucasusKabuto Castle which has a planet on the edge of it. Jeramie says that the CaucasusKabuto Castle in the mural depicts the spaceship their ancestors traveled on.

While sitting with Souji, Prince gets a call from Amy who tells him she’s found Gabutyra-tachi’s location. But Zorimas arrive to attack her, so Prince hurries over. Gira follows and Prince explains that Amy-san is very special to him.

They arrive at the location and Prince henshins to save Amy. Gira henshins and joins in the battle against the Zorimas as well. Prince reunites with Ma… Amy-san and frees the Zyudenryu. Prince introduces her to Gira.

Just then, Gabutyra roars and Prince gets a message from Daigo who says he has entrusted Gabutyra to him. Their contact gives Gira an idea to contact Kuwagon. He thinks hard and the message reaches Suzume back in Shugoddam. She thinks it is a message from Racules and has no problem following the orders it contains.

Suzume is able to activate CaucasusKabuto Castle into its spaceship mode. The ShuGods hop in for the ride to Earth.

Next day, Zorimas attack the evacuation center and the Ohgers and Kyoryugers spring to action. Seeing Nobu and Cadelilla are engaged to be married, he is happy to see a planet like Earth exists where interracial marriage is allowed. Ian is impressed by Hymeno’s being a beauty and a badass. Luckyuro has a crush on Rita.

Rita asks how the Kyoryugers defeated Deboth during their season. Luckyuro explains that the Earth’s Melody was able to power everyone up. But they can no longer hear it. That gives Hymeno an idea. She goes to play the Kyoryuger theme song and everyone starts singing the finale version of the song that defeated the Deboth.

Just then, God CaucasusKabuto arrives and the Kyoryugers’ Zyudenchi get powered up once again. That allows everyone to henshin.

After a roll call, the Ohgers and Kyoryuger team up to take care of the Zorimas before delivering a finisher at Kabutobushin Deboth who then embiggens.

The Ohgers and Kyoryugers hop into KingOhger and Kyoryuzin. And together, they defeat Kabutobushin Deboth for good.

Before the Ohgers leave, Souji thanks them for their help in protecting the planet as well as bringing out Prince’s Brave. Prince also thanks Gira and Yanma and says one day he will become a king as great as they are. Gira expects Prince to be able to protect his planet until then.

Prince says “Prince” is just his nickname. His legal name is actually Kiryu Daigoro.

Nobu and Ian realize that makes Prince Amy and Daigo’s son. Amy just smiles and shrugs.

The Kyoryugers wave goodbye to the Ohgers as they fly away. Prince says no matter what, they will protect Earth and he is its king.

Episode Thoughts

This was a fun two episodes. Definitely felt more like a movie/TTFC special that was inserted into the regular series. But that’s alright. The connection they made between Kyoryuger and King-Ohger was alright. I don’t expect it to be a big deal. Just part of Sentai’s loose continuity Easter eggs I assume. Though with Sentai and Kamen Rider, I don’t care too much about continuity and always take crossovers like this as just fun specials.

Which this definitely was. Again, I’m not a huge fan of Kyoryuger. Heck, I haven’t even finished the season. (I think it stopped around the 30s.) So I was just as interested in knowing how they ended up defeating the Debothss as the Ohgers were lol Had no idea about the song and all that.

But even then, everything made sense and was a cohesive story for this special team-up. Nice, cute moments between the two teams. The interactions between the paired off members of each team are always the moments you look for and enjoy.

I will say though that the Ohgers’ roll call sounded weird with their names. I dunno. I guess since it just feels different from their “Ranger” names, it felt a bit awkward. But it’s okay.

Overall, a fun episode and fun anniversary special. We’ll see how they pick the story back up next week.

Really sad they’re flying back to the CGI world next week hehe
