Recap: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Episode 28 – Shuffle Kings!

Dagded asks who wants to go first in getting Chikyuu cleaned up. Goma Rosalia steps forward and says his plans have already started. He hopes Dagded will enjoy the show.

Down on Chikyuu, the Ohgers wake up to find themselves in each other’s bodies.

Kaguragi and Hymeno have switched.

Rita and Yanma have swapped.

And Gira and Jeramie are in each other’s bodies.

The Ohgers come together at Caucasuskabuto Castle, annoyed and frustrated with the situation. They agree this is Dagded’s doing. Seeing them upset with the way each other are acting in their own bodies, Jeramie says this is exactly what Dagded probably hoped for; to have them fighting each other.

Just then, Goma pops up in the middle of them and introduces himself. Goma explains that they have fallen prey to his Body Swap Ninpou. Only when they defeat him can they return to their bodies.

The Ohgers henshin into their current bodies’ King-Ohger forms and they attempt to battle Goma. But they instead fight each other, continually annoyed by how their bodies are being used by their fellow Ohgers.

The distraction allows Goma to ninpou slash them out of their henshin. He states that body and mind are powerless when not in sync, as they’ve shown perfectly now. He is sure they will fall due to their discord.

For now, the Ohgers return to the bodies’ respective kingdoms. Jeramie thinks this is a great opportunity for them to know each other better. But Gira says he knows each king’s self-interests for their own countries will take over as always.

Hymeno as Kaguragi has all of Toufu’s crops harvested and given for free to Ishabana. Kaguragi as Hymeno has Ishabana therapists give Toufu farmers free massages. The massages, however, overexcite the farmers who work themselves into heat exhaustion. Meanwhile, Ishabanians overeat because of the delicious Toufu food.

Meanwhile, Rita as Yanma arrests the citizens of N’Kosopa for petty and/or nonexistent crimes and sends them to ice jail. Yanma as Rita in Gokkan immediately releases them. But Rita just arrests them again and Yanma releases them again over and over.

Over in Shugoddam, the people wonder if the monsters who have just attacked are in any way related to Jeramie and the Bugnarak. But Jeramie as Gira assures the peoples that is not the case. Both Jeramie and Gira say they shouldn’t judge someone based on appearances. And Jeramie as Gira reminds everyone that Gira used to be a fugitive, but is now their king.

The Shugoddamians say of course they know King Jeramie would not be involved in the attacks. They are just a bit worried about the new danger. Jeramie is very touched by their feelings. Gira says that Bugnarak are now accepted by the people of Chikyuu and Jeramie lets out a sigh of relief, even if it took two years to get here.

Over in Toufu, Hymeno as Kaguragi helps make some herbal medicine for the overworked farmers. Kuroda asks where he learned such a recipe and “Kaguragi” says Hymeno taught him. Kuroda thinks it is very generous for Hymeno to have done so and Toufu’s healthcare will be better because of it. Hymeno seems touched by Kuroda’s words.

Over in Ishabana, Kaguragi as Hymeno joins Sebastian and other staff near the river picking wasabi as a way to counter the peoples’ overeating. Sebastian is surprised to have Hymeno getting muddy with them, but “Hymeno” says she learned some things from Kaguragi. Sebastian says it’s a good thing to learn about hard work since they’ve been too dependent on medicine.

Meanwhile, Rita and Yanma are exhausted from the incarceration loop when they get word that Goma has appeared and begun to wreak havoc in Ishabana.

Kaguragi as Hymeno first henshins and takes on Goma himself. Hymeno as Kaguragi arrives and they try to modify their fighting style to the bodies they are in now. The other Ohgers arrive and do the same.

Jeramie as Gira is able to punch Goma to the ground and that seems to return them to their own bodies. They prepare a finisher, but Goma suddenly has the Ohgers’ right-hands appear in front of them. The Ohgers are able pull their attacks back.

But when the Ohgers dehenshin, their retainers suddenly turn and slash their kings.

Episode Thoughts

Ooooo!

I love this episode because it felt like a traditional filler episode that I’ve definitely been missing this season. It felt very refreshing with all the funny absurdities that come with a typical body swap episode. And I think they definitely picked the right pairings for the swaps.

Like, it is perfect seeing Aoto Watanabe acting as Rita. Seeing him screaming like that is absolutely hilarious. And it is such a contrast to Yanma’s cool guy (but really tsundere) vibe. And then it’s awesome seeing Yuzuki Hirakawa not have to hide her face AND also seeing “Rita” acting like Yanma.

It’s always fun and amusing to see actors get to play different characters from their regular roles. But it was especially fun seeing Aoto Watanabe and Yuzuki Hirakawa because of their characters.

Kaguragi and Hymeno, meanwhile, was fun for a different reason. And that is because they are probably most alike. Of the kings, both are probably the most “selfish” when it comes to their countries. So them actually learning something positive from their experience is great from a character development standpoint for them.

And of course, Gira and Jeramie are perfect to swap bodies with each other. Their scenes talking about the others and with the peoples were very good and also suited their characters as well.

The cliffhanger was great and it’s nice to see the story not resolved here and instead continuing into the next episode. I’ve of course wished the show slowed down a little. And this episode made me feel like things have slowed down a bit. Whether or not that’s the case, I don’t know. But it’s just a refreshing feeling that gets me a bit more excited than normal with the show.

So overall, a really great and fun episode.
