Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 82 – Infiltration

Voltes V Legacy Episode 81 Recap

Oslak stops Zander from slitting Hrothgar’s throat. They have their soldiers drag them away to be locked up. But Hrothgar uses a special device he created that unleashes a painful, high-pitched deafening sound to anyone now vaccinated against it. This allows them to escape into the forest.

Hrothgar tells the others to go on ahead and he stays behind to get captured. Zander and Oslak say they will leave Hrothgar to Zambojil to take care of.

At CBF, after Dr. Hook hands over the blaster he dug up, S&M Edwards goes to arrest Eva. But she stands defiant and whacks him with a clipboard before shooting all the soldiers who are supposed to take her in. Dr. Hook arrives and faces off against Eva.

Meanwhile, Jamie remembers they had experienced this attack before. So the Voltesers Volt Out and are able to break free of the rings’ hold. They use Jamie’s drills to break through the force field protecting Zardoz’s castillo.

Draco heads out to lead the soldiers against the Voltesers, but most of them end up defecting thanks to Oslak and Zander. Zandra assures her mahal that she and the remaining peoples will not abandon him.

Episode Thoughts

Definitely penultimate week events in this episode. The most annoying sections of the episode were definitely the Eva ones. So absurd. A typical teleserye maniac villain. An insane murderer all because she can’t get the man she wants. No depth or nuance there. It will probably end up being the series’ weakest storyline.

And the way they were cutting in and out of the scenes to try and build up this frantic energy and dynamic to the episode just made those CBF scenes stand out even more. In a bad way, of course.

Meanwhile, the action scenes carried the episode. Very nice to see more on-ground, human battles rather than CGI.

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 82 is supposed to be available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
But they want you to watch live on TV because their linear ratings have collapsed and it’s a bit embarrassing. They’re even lower than both their lead-in and lead-out programs last week. Yikes.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
