Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 79 – Betrayal
As HrothNed and the rebels take care of the initial wave of saucers, the Voltesers Volt In to deal with the Beastfighter. Zardoz is ready to celebrate his first win. The Voltesers whip out their Laser Sword, but it doesn’t even leave a scratch on Zunaizer. In fact, the four-headed Beastfighter is able to whack the sword out of Voltes V’s hands.
Zardoz speaks with the Voltesers and tells them to just surrender as this is just a waste of time and his desire to conquer Erthu will come to fruition with them just being hurt even more.
Dr. Hook implores the Voltesers not to give up as the whole planet is depending on them. Zunaizer attempts to deliver the finisher, but Oslak comes flying in and shoots at it. Voltes V is able to break free and slams Zunaizer to the ground. They use the Laser Sword and are suddenly able to easily slice its heads off.
Everyone is shocked to see it was a Boazanian saucer that helped Voltes V. The Voltesers hurry to the rebel camp while Zardoz recaps scenes we saw just a few minutes ago. Zardoz believes they have a traitor in their midst.
Baron Zander commends Oslak for his work. But Zardoz wants to see him immediately.
Dr. Hook says he’s happy the Voltesers are okay. But they have to hurry as Boazanian ground troops arrive at the rebel camp.
Episode Thoughts
The episodes feel like they’re getting shorter and shorter. You could watch the entire episode in five minutes.
I mean, it says a lot that they have to recap scenes that happened just a few minutes earlier. Padding pa more?
The show really is a chore to get through now. And again, it’s fine that GMA wants to maximize their ROI on the show. But if the ratings are anything to go by, even loyal fans have begun tuning out. Despite these being the show’s last few weeks.
Perhaps stretching the show too thin (or not putting in enough effort to actually develop enough content to fill 80+ episodes) really was not the right move.
“Sumuko na kayo Voltes V! Kesa mas masaktan pa kayong lahat!”
Indeed! The longer the show drags on, the more it hurts itself and the goodwill it fostered early on. Welp, typical Filipino teleserye overstaying its welcome, I guess.
Voltes V: Legacy Episode 79 is supposed to be available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
But they want you to watch live so they can boost the ratings and post on social media how much they’ve beaten Batang Quiapo in the ratings!
I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
