Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 65 – Orders of Assassination

General Watson asks HrothNed why he doesn’t want to let his children know he’s alive. HrothNed says he has seen that they are safe and can defend themselves. Unlike his fellow Boazanians who are still suffering. They just have to wait for the Solar Bird and together with Voltes V, they will be able to return to Boazan and save everyone.

Meanwhile, Draco and Oslak lead flying saucers around the world to search for the Mechanical Eagle. The Armstrong Bros want to go look too so they can find their Papa. But the Mechanical Eagle ends up conveniently crashing right near Falcon Island after being shot down by the flying saucers.

The Voltes team heads over and drives the flying saucers away, allowing them to carry Mechanical Eagle back to CBF. Its pilot is General Watson and is now badly injured.

In the medical bay, General Watson introduces himself and tells them that HrothNed is alive and hiding in a mountain on Earth. Unfortunately, he cannot tell them the exact location as HrothNed is preparing for the mission to save his fellow Boazanian alipins. The Armstrong Bros are taken aback.

It’s time for the Armstrong Bros to learn the truth. Their Papa is indeed a Boazanian. General Commander Robinson confirms that his BFF Ned Armstrong is an alien and Prince Hrothgar of Boazan.

General Watson decides to recap the previous 64 episodes of Voltes V: Legacy to explain better and assures them that HrothNed has been working to save the alipins. Watson is grateful to have been able to fight alongside the brave HrothNed and now also to meet his children.

Steve asks again where their Papa’s kuta is. But General Watson dies before he can say anything more.

Meanwhile, Zambojil orders Oslak to assassinate Zardoz and defeat Voltes V. If he does that, Oslak will be handsomely rewarded when he gets back to Boazan.

Episode Thoughts

Well this was definitely a familiar Toei recap/clip show episode. hehe Like Sentai and Kamen Rider, I assume this was movie filming week for Voltes V: Legacy, that’s why we get a clip show. Lol Just kidding.

But anyway, I guess the episode was mostly for the Who’s your daddy revelation for the Armstrong Bros. Which was kind of underwhelming. Again, pacing is horrible and it just felt so rushed. We go from HrothNed having a heart to heart with General Watson to Watson getting fatal injuries. The show just loves to speed through big events and linger on meh things like petty middle school love quadrangles lol

Oh well, Final 15 episodes? Or are they really going to stretch things out to 90 total? Eeek!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
