Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 63 – Mysterious Capsule
The pilot of the Mechanical Eagle contacts CBF and tells them to aim for the Beastfighter’s head. Dr. Hook is incensed at someone ordering him around, but Commander General Robinson says to just go with it. Dr. Hook tells Steve and Voltes V is able to get back up good as new and they are able to shoot their bazooka at Desler’s head.
The headless Beastfighter obviously has no chance against the Laser Sword and it blows up. Voltes V returns to its overloaded state and collapses. A rescue team has to fly in to retrieve the Voltes team. Before losing consciousness, Steve sees the Mechanical Eagle drop something as it flies away.
Zardoz orders his generals for them to return to their castillo. But he laughs at seeing another Voltes V weakness and orders his generals to create a Beastfighter that can exploit that opening.
Back at CBF, the Voltes team are fine now. Physically, at least. Steve wants to apologize to Mark. But Mark says he should be the one apologizing since he forced himself on Jamie. He turns and walks away, but Jamie goes after him.
Jamie says he didn’t need to apologize since she chose him, after all. But Mark says they should stop this kalokohan. They both know the truth and says this is all only making him look like a gago. Jamie asks what they are now then and Mark says just teammates, nothing more.
Elsewhere, the Voltes team heads to the command center where Dr. Hook shows them detailed plans to upgrade Voltes V that were found inside the Mechanical Capsule. Only a person who knows Voltes V intimately would be able to come up with such plans and Big Bert immediately suggests it was Papa. Little Jon agrees and Steve suggests Papa is piloting Mechanical Eagle. But Dr. Hook says they have no proof.
Later, Eva asks Mark how he and Jamie are and he tells her they’ve broken up. Eva is surprised and asks why. Mark tells her to ask her boyfriend Steve.
Steve wants he and Jamie to talk. She asks what for, so they can officially become a couple? She says they should have some shame toward Mark and for them to stop this nonsense. Just then, Eva comes to butt in and says Jamie is problematic because she has so many issues. But Jamie says it is Steve who has issues.
Jamie says Mark is right about Steve making a mess of everything. But after a shower, Jamie can’t think about anything but all her sweet moments with Steve. Steve and Mark also think about sweet moments, but the painful moments creep in as well.
Down in the castillo, Oslak introduces an upgraded Desler to Zardoz in which any Voltes V attack will only power up its kalasags. Zardoz orders its immediate deployment and the Voltes V team hops into their Machines.
I still want to see Zardoz and Co. get a win at least. Perhaps they’re saving that for the end where the Voltes team is completely decimated and they rise from the ashes for the climactic final battle.
But anyway, it’s good that they get another chance with the Beastfighter. Hopefully it gives the Voltes team a better run for their money without Papa Plot Device coming in to save the day so early lol
The weird pacing strikes again. See, like in the Mark and Jamie convo, the scene makes it look like they’ve been a couple for a while. Like, they’ve put up with the charade for a reasonably long amount of time. Maybe a few weeks. Or at least a couple of days. But the way the show is edited, it only looks like a single day has passed. So Jamie asking “What are we now then?” doesn’t make sense.
I like the way Mark handled the day though. It’s only right to make Steve and Jamie feel horrible. Deserved! Lolol Meh to Eva butting in though. Hope she gets embarrassed soon too. Or I guess thrown in jail for murdering Apable lol
Overall, an okay episode. Any episode that has Steve and Jamie feeling miserable is going to be an above-average episode lol
Voltes V: Legacy Episode 63 is supposed to be available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, they’ve decided not to upload even split-part episodes so as to force people to watch live on TV or even the livestream since the ratings have been a bit lower than previous.
The episode is available to view via the Kapuso Stream livestream on YouTube:
Except for in the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the USA. But if you have a VPN, then that should be no problem. =)
Though GMA also sometimes deletes/privates the livestream later.
I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
