Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 54 – Knight BeastFighter

After he is thrown into a holding corner, HrothNed cuts his finger and uses the blood to write a message on his clothes. Just then, Big Bert comes storming in, guns ablaze, shooting the guards.

HrothNed and Big Bert come face to face. Big Bert shoots the console, turning the barrier off. He asks if he is really Papa Armstrong and HrothNed says yes. They hug and attempt to escape the caves.

Commander General Robinson asks Captain Ignacio for an update and he says they have not detected a signal from the Volt Machine on Celebes Island. General Commander Robinson orders his troops to destroy it.

As EDF forces attack the island, Zuhl realizes it’s time to escape as well.

Papa Armstrong gives Big Bert the message he wrote, saying it will come in handy if they get separated again. Big Bert says he won’t leave him. But on the beach, Boazan forces catch up to them. A flying saucer swoops in and sucks HrothNed up. Big Bert can do nothing but scream at the sky.

Meanwhile back in NeoManila, the others are struggling. Big Bert heads back to CBF and tells Dr. Hook that he really saw Papa this time. He hands the message over and it is a set of numbers. Dr. Hook says they’ll decode it, but Big Bert has to hurry over and help the others.

Zuhl calls Zambojil to tell him that Hrothgar and Dr. Armstrong, who created Voltes V, are the same person. Not only that, three of the Voltes pilots are Hrothgar’s children. Zambojil orders Zuhl to keep all this a secret from Zardoz so as not to know his father is still alive or that he has brothers running around.

The Voltes team Volts In and faces off against Zoldier who uses electromagnetic waves against them. The Voltes team uses their bazooka, but the Beastfighter can regenerate limbs and heads.

Back on the Skull Ship, Boazan soldiers drag HrothNed in and Zuhl has him strapped to a chair. HrothNed says they can kill him and still won’t get anything from him. But Zuhl suggests he kill his children instead. HrothNed remains defiant.

The Voltes team whips out their Laser Sword. They slide on the ground and attack the Beastfighter from the back to finish it for good.

Big Bert apologizes for leaving them, but Dr. Hook orders them to quickly return to CBF. He has deciphered the code. Mark can’t believe they are allowing themselves to be so gullible again. He says their ignorance is harming the team. Big Bert wants to punch him, but Dr. Hook yells at them to stop being boys and start being men.

Anyway, Dr. Hook shows them the numbers and they turn out to be log entry numbers for files of Papa Armstrong during his stay on Earth. And that log entry has the frequency of Papa Armstrong’s pulse wave embedded within him.

Tomas tells Dr. Hook that he has found the location of the pulse wave and Dr. Hook says Ned Armstrong is right there. Mark asks if they are really sure this time. Little Jon snaps at him to just stay behind if he doesn’t want to go. Big Bert asks Steve what he thinks and he says they will go. Jamie wants to come too, but Mark stays behind.

Episode Thoughts

I can smell this hour-long episode’s final act already lol

A good episode. Speeding through everything, as Voltes V: Legacy will do. Another quick battle. But it was exciting enough. Still a lot of déjà vu with the questioning and wondering if they’re being uto-uto again. It’s interesting because the pacing makes the other instances that they’ve been gullible feel repetitive instead of a foreshadowing-type of deal.

You know the thing I am dreading? If Papa Armstrong is back for good, the PK attitudes will be at an all-time high. And I definitely don’t want to have to stomach that. I actually hope they don’t find him this time lolol Especially if it somehow ruins the eventual revelation that there are four Armstrong Bros instead of three.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
