Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 41 – The Impostor
Zuhl explains to Zandra that Zardoz is using a special bracelet created with the same technology used to develop Beastfighters that changes his appearance to become more human. That way, he will be able to easily blend in once in CBF.
That’s why the bioscan ends up showing Zardoz… er, Manuel as a human being. Little Jon says “I told you so.” Dr. Smith reminds everyone that they should always help someone in need. Manuel thanks Little Jon for saving his life and says he can probably leave now lest he be a bother to them.
Manuel pretends to feel some pain and Steve suggests maybe he should stay and rest first. Mark says they could transfer Manuel to a mainland hospital. Little Jon and Jamie says this is a hospital and they’ve already proven Manuel is human and not trouble. Mark reminds Jamie that a human almost killed her.
Manuel insists he is not a bad person and says if he weren’t so weak, he would leave immediately. Dr. Smith says he can stay, but he must remain in the medical bay until he’s better.
Later, Mark and Jamie are enjoying hot dogs on the beach with a bonfire. Jamie likes how tender and juicy the hot dog is. Mark says it’s great how the food was already prepared for them. Back where he comes from, especially for him who grew up alone, you have to learn how…
Mark doesn’t continue, saying Jamie would never understand anyway since she grew up in a much more privileged life. Jamie says she may have had everything she needed growing up, but her parents were always away. So they could indeed be similar growing up lonely.
Mark jokes that Jamie was indeed lonely with her yaya and all the maids at home. Sensing Jamie’s mood change, Mark apologizes and says he is just not used to speaking with others because he has no social skills.
Mark says he wanted this night to be meaningful, but he’s already ruined it. Jamie doesn’t get it. What is this all about? She is tired of Mark avoiding defining their relationship. She flat out asks if he likes her.
“Hindi pa ba obvious, Jamie? Hindi pa ba obvious na gusto kita?”
Mark says he is not expecting any answer. He just wants to show who he is and how he feels about her. That he isn’t a bad guy. Jamie says she knows he is a good person with a good heart and is a good friend. But for now, that is all she can be to him; a friend.
Mark says he understands, but hopes that maybe, she could fall for him eventually. And until then, he will wait for her.
Late that night, Zardoz is able to sneak out of the medical bay and roam the nearby halls. He presses his bracelet and is able to manipulate the CCTVs to not detect him walking around. He manages to slip inside Dr. Smith’s office and sees photos of the Armstrongs.
But just then, Steve walks in and asks what he’s doing here as he was supposed to stay in the medical bay. Manuel says he was looking for them since he feels a lot better now and wants to go home. Steve says Manuel doesn’t have medical clearance yet, so he should just wait.
Before they leave the room, Manuel asks Steve why their photos are here on the desk. Steve explains that this used to be his mother’s office. He introduces Papa and Mama Armstrong, saying his mother died and his father’s whereabouts are unknown. Only that he hopped onto a spaceship when he was a kid.
Steve believes his father flew out into space to study other planets. But he doesn’t know for sure since there was no closure.
Manuel stares at the photo, wondering where he has seen Papa Armstrong before and why feels something by his image.
As they are walking, Manuel talks about growing up without parents and being raised by his uncle. He says he’s glad his father is dead, but so is his mother. Steve asks if Manuel has anger toward his father, but Manuel apologizes and says he doesn’t feel like talking about it.
Steve says he understands Manuel since they all have their own stories.
Before they leave, Manuel asks what the room nearby is. Steve says it is their gym and asks if Manuel wants to sweat together. Manuel does not understand what that means and Steve explains they can spar. He asks if Manuel knows how to fight and Manuel says kinda.
They head inside to face off against two other cadets. And Steve is surprised that Manuel is actually quite skilled. They hug it out after a fun sweat session.
Meanwhile, Dr. Smith gets a call from Lt. Major Edwards to show him something strange from the CCTV. It shows Manuel suspiciously lurking about the base. Dr. Smith lets out a big sigh.
Episode Thoughts
A strong episode to start the week! No annoying stuff to whine about. Yay!
First of all, I like the next steps in the Zarduel arc. The show was subtle with the initial scene in the medical bay with everyone trusting of him, Mark with doubts. Then his creeping about leading into sweet talking Steve into trusting him. That’s masterful work by Zardoz. And great to move the story along. Again, I hope they stick with this arc for a while.
Meanwhile, omg Jamie is really manhid, yeah? Lol Talk about no social skills. Lol
Yay for bro Mark mustering up the courage to admit his feelings for her. But I’m starting to think he’s too good for her. OOP. Lol! The way she snapped at him was such an overreaction. He hasn’t been avoiding her. He’s actually been trying to get closer to her without forcing himself on her.
So her demanding they define their relationship when they can just be friends is really a bit much on her part. Like, calm down ma’am. Why the need to define the relationship if you have no feelings for him anyway. She knows he struggles in social situations and was the first one to reach out. Now that he’s reaching back, she wants to put up a barrier? What’s her deal? Lol Was her being nice just to get ganda points with everyone else or something. Hmmmmmm….. lol
Anyway, Mark deserves to be happy. So whatever that is, I’ll root for it. lol Even if it means being with Jamie who is starting to be a bit sketchy, you know? Lol
Perhaps she felt bad because Mark was right about her PK life growing up lol Mark made perfect sense though.
Overall, a pretty great episode to start the week. Let’s hope they can maintain that all the way to Friday.
Voltes V: Legacy Episode 41 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!
I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.

I wonder if the makers of Power Rangers (also Hasbro) can adapt Voltes V Legacy on GMA using the robot fight footage source, it kinda like Power Rangers using footage from Super Sentai and it will be a show for kids with toylines for Voltes V (instead of the word “kill”, it will replace with “destroy” and “exterminate”).
That’s interesting! But with Power Rangers really on a decline and almost dead, tbh, it’s unlikely.
