When Judy reports back to Zardoz, this time with Zandra by his side, she tells him five random names she heard on the radio. But that means nothing to Zardoz. They need their faces. He scolds Judy and says she better not think she’ll get out of her mission with this useless information.

Meanwhile, Dr. Smith asks S&M Edwards to dig into Judy’s background. But later, Edwards says it is as if Judy does not exist. There is zero information on her. To add to that, thermal readings show her body is completely different from others. Dr. Smith remembers scanning HrothNed back in the day and seeing his colder thermal reading, concluding he was alien.

Edwards, however, also points out that the Armstrong Bros also have an anomalous reading. But Dr. Smith asks Edwards to maintain confidentiality on whatever he’s found out so far.

Back on the Skull, Zuhl stumbles upon Zandra and Draco looking at plans for the new Beastfighter without him. He asks what they’re doing, but they try to brush his concerns aside.

At CBF, Dr. Smith and S&M Edwards tell Big Bert that he is dating an alien. Big Bert thinks they are being desperate about wanting to keep him on base. But they show Big Bert the thermal imaging scan to prove that she is an alien.

Big Bert says it is just a malfunction. Especially since he and Steve’s scan is different too. But Dr. Smith explains that he and Dr. Mary Ann also encountered a similar reading before from an alien. Thus, this is definitive proof.

Episode Thoughts

A much better episode than yesterday. After getting the exposition out of the way, the aftermath is always more interesting. And that is what this episode was. We got to see things actually moving forward instead of tip-toeing.

Would’ve been nice to actually meet Judy a bit more before dumping her tragic history on us yesterday. It diluted her story, to be honest.

But it was good to see her actually taking action for herself. And it adds to the potential drama between her and Zardoz and of course her and Big Bert.

I will say though that Dr. Smith’s jump to saying Judy is the spy is kind of out of nowhere as well. Especially when they’ve done nothing to investigate people within their own ranks when the leaks started before Judy even set foot on base.

The Apable-Eva scene was so out of place. Either pair it with something similarly relevant or just not include it here at all.

Good to see the seed planting for the eventual “Armstrong Bros are half-alien” reveal later on too.

Overall, a better episode non-action episode than recent ones.

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 29 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
