Hymeno attacks Jeremy and forces him out of God Tarantula. Seeing as he can control ShuGods, she demands he tell her if the cicada ShuGod was his. Jeremy says that is God Tarantula’s friend.
Hymeno asks if he remembers the Wrath of God™ from 15 years ago. After thinking for a second, Jeremy says of course, it feels like yesterday. An angry Hymeno henshins and charges toward Jeremy who also henshins. Jeremy tries blocking Hymeno’s attacks as she explains that her parents were killed by poison during the Wrath of God™. Jeremy offers his condolences, but Hymeno takes that as him belittling her and her parents. She believes he is the mastermind behind that attack.
Jeremy does not confirm nor deny and says she should read between the lines. Jeremy’s attitude angers her even more and Hymeno is able to counter Jeremy’s attacks and eventually deliver an explosive finisher that forces him to dehenshin.
Hymeno is about to kill him for good, but Sebastian arrives to stop her. She says she is not doing this for selfish reasons. But another Sebastian, actually Gerojim comes to drag her away from Jeremy. That gives Jeremy an opportunity to escape in smoke. Gerojim also leaves.
Sebastian tells Hymeno to come drink some tea and calm down. She does not want to.
Down in the tunnels, Kamejim orders Amenjim to bring Jeremy to them. He believes the power of God Tarantula controlling the Shugoshin is the key to turning the world upside down. Desnarak fights Amenjim, but tells him to kill the kings and Jeremy if they get in the way of eliminating the lower lifeforms on Chikyuu.
Over in Ishabana, the kings arrive to get their Caliburs back which have been retrieved from Jeremy. Hymeno insists that Jeremy has confessed to being the mastermind of the Wrath of God™.
She asks Rita what charges they could bring up against Jeremy, but Rita says she would have to hear from the suspect first. Hymeno wants to push for the death penalty immediately.
Gira thinks Hymeno is acting strange. But Hymeno thinks it is strange for them all to be so calm since they were all also affected by the Wrath of God™. She demands Gira find God Scorpion which will lead them to Jeremy. Gira is not willing to help depending on what Hymeno’s goals are in doing so.
Hymeno waves her hand at Sebastian and he and a servant tie Gira up before carrying him off. Hymeno is determined to punish Jeremy.
Over in Gokkan, Rita arrives to find Morfonia with a badly injured Jeremy. Through his pain, he says he just wanted to find a quiet place amidst all the noise. Rita asks Morfonia to look into Jeremy’s past a bit more.
Back in Ishabana, Hymeno asks why Gira will not help her. He does not believe God Tarantula would do anything wrong since he seemed to be on good terms with the other ShuGods. He believes they just want to be together as friends. Hymeno yells that Gira is wrong and they are being controlled.
Just then, Amenjim and the Bugnarak arrive in Ishabana.
When Jeremy wakes up, he is in a snowman and is now officially on trial. Rita demands he tell her what he was doing 15 years ago during the Wrath of God™. He says he was essentially meditating, trying to get his stories organized. Rita, however, will not put up with his nonsense.
Morfonia comes in with what she’s found. It turns out, 15 years ago, Jeremy as Kumotoko-san was found in a cave and gained notoriety as a corpse that would not decay. Jeremy tries to explain that for being alive for two thousand years, a year-long nap is to be expected.
Rita asks what Jeremy told Hymeno. He says he just told her to read between the lines and she immediately called him a criminal. Rita says there is no subtext that would indicate he was merely asleep.
Rita is annoyed how Jeremy makes things so complicated. He reminds her that he is the one that is being wrongfully accused, just because he is friendly with the cicada ShuGods.
Rita explains that those ShuGods have become associated with the Wrath of God™ as a swarm of them had attacked the kingdoms on that day. Hymeno’s parents personally oversaw the disaster response, but died in the process. Hymeno ascended to the throne at a very young age, as did the other kings due to the Wrath of God™.
Jeremy understands now that it was he who didn’t read between the lines. Rita says his ignorance to what happened poured salt on Hymeno’s wounds. He asks for Rita to mediate between them and Rita says Hymeno will not easily accept an apology.
Jeremy, however, has some information to offer and it is regarding Moffun. Rita’s eyes widen and she demands Jeremy to spill the beans immediately!
Back in Ishabana, the other Ohgers are dealing with the Bugnarak. Hymeno takes over from Gira in taking on Amenjim. They battle for a while until Hymeno says she is beautiful and sends Amenjim flying through the trees. The peoples of Ishabana are suffering from the attacks. Hymeno calls for immediate aid.
Gira, Yanma and Kaguragi find Hymeno to tell her that she is losing sight of herself with the way she is acting. Yanma asks his peoples to hack into Ishabana’s broadcast signal so he can send out a call for Ishabanians to help find Jeremy.
Kaguragi joins in and says their queen will reward them with anything they want if they do find Jeremy.
Gira asks Hymeno if she can even dare show her face to her people in the current state she is in. He yells at her to look in the mirror. She has become too hideous for words! Hymeno wants to punish Gira for saying that, but Rita tells her to stop.
Rita announces that Jeremy is innocent and shows them the evidence to prove it. Hymeno doesn’t want to hear it, but Rita says Jeremy has information to offer.
Rita explains that Together with Moffun was created by the people of Ishabana as a way to support young Hymeno with kindness and hope. Rita adds that no one is blaming Hymeno for remembering the past, but she should not forget what she has now either. That includes the wonderful people of Ishabana working to help those in need.
Just then, Edda from Episode 3 walks up and “captures” Jeremy. Gira hides behind a rock. Hymeno points her sword at Jeremy, much to Edda’s shock. But she asks him again point blank if he was behind the Wrath of God™. Jeremy says he was not.
Jeremy says after Rita has explained everything to him, he will be sure to include the Wrath of God™ into his stories as well.
Amenjim embiggens and Hymeno tells Jeremy to prove himself through action. Jeremy summons God Tarantula while Gira, Yanma and Hymeno hop into the other ShuGods. But they are connected to God Tarantula through the webbing and Jeremy asks them to follow his lead. Hymeno refuses to be ordered around and declares she will defend her own country. Jeremy is amused and cuts the web from God Scorpion, allowing Hymeno to go wild. They finish off Amenjim for good.
Later, Hymeno asks Edda what she wants as a reward, but she does not know. Edda says living in Ishabana is enough happiness for her. Hymeno pledges to continue to protect the country and its beauty.
Jeremy decides it’s time he calls her “queen” from now on.
Over in Shugoddam, Kaguragi reports to Racules and says Jeremy could be of great use to them. Before he leaves, Kaguragi asks how his sister is doing. Racules asks if he wants to see her, but Kaguragi says he has already steeled himself with the idea that he won’t ever be able to.
An interesting episode. Maybe the episode I’m the most iffy about so far? And I don’t really even know why.
Perhaps it’s the way they chipped at Jeremy’s character so soon after we first meet him. I don’t mind the fact that he was asleep or just likes making up fanciful stories. But maybe drag the mystery around him a bit more at least. Maybe even after we get all these 2nd focus episodes for each Ohger first.
Or maybe it’s because I feel like they rushed not only Jeremy’s story, but also Hymeno’s too. I feel like her anger over her parents’ death could have been given a bit more time to breathe.
And I guess that’s my biggest thing about the episode. King-Ohger has just been nonstop since the premiere, that maybe things are moving too fast now. It’s episode 14, but it’s maybe episodes like this that justify the need for “fillers” or less-plot heavy episodes that can give us time to breathe and absorb the stories and characters a bit more.
King-Ohger has already done more to flesh out the characters and story in 14 episodes than other series do in like 30. So I appreciate the fast-paced start. But maybe it’s time to settle down a little bit? I dunno.
Still, a solid episode nonetheless. But perhaps not my favorite of the bunch so far.
