Episode Thoughts

If yesterday’s episode was a great character episode, this one was very meh. Honestly, probably one of the more boring episodes so far of Voltes V: Legacy. The only interesting scene was the beginning with Mark and Dr. Smith. I’m interested in finding out what happened to Mama Gordon.

Otherwise, that and everything else was set-up for future stuff. Which is fine, but of course not the most exciting.

Is Judy the spy? It can’t be Apable. I’d think that would be too obvious. But then again, the show has been quite obvious with its twists, let alone actual scenes in the preview. But we’ll see. Zardoz wanting to find out the identity of the Voltes pilots reminds me very much of some typical toku story with the villains wanting to find the heroes’ base or identity and stuff like that.

So the Big Bert-Judy scenes felt kinda rushed actually. And the way they played out kind of makes them feel even more like a plot device than something that would add character depth.

And with Steve and Jamie, I get that they are endgame and all that. But after getting over the ickiness of Steve’s personality, the show reminded me again how skeevy he actually is. Now that Eva’s gone (it hasn’t even been a day!), he’s eager to finally admit his feelings to Jamie. So it’s like he’s been waiting for the chance to be free and he is.

BUT! What was that preview though?! Eva! I was rooting for you! But why are you back?! If she’s returned just to intentionally wreak havoc, then great! We like a fun, petty troublemaker. But if she actually wants Steve back?! No no no.

Overall, a pretty meh, if not boring episode. Sadly.

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 19 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
