Recap: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Episode 19 – Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger

The Bugnarak force Racules to address all of Chikyuu about them now living peacefully together in Shugoddam. Kamejim extends an invitation to anyone in Chikyuu who want to join them in this new friendship.

Gira can’t stand seeing that display. Hymeno calls for a medical team to deploy to Shugoddam.

Kaguragi tells Yanma to stay put and continue his recovery. Yanma asks about Kaguragi planning to betray Racules all along. Kaguragi just says he will always do what is in the best interest of his people. Yanma is amused how that makes him more trustworthy.

Rita calls the other kings to say that Shugoddam is no longer a functioning country and they must form a new alliance to protect its citizens.

After the others leave, Yanma asks Jerami why he’s all down now. They both agree this is all because of Racules. Yanma says he won’t rest until he kicks Racules’ ass. Jerami likes that and he whisks both of them away from the nurse that is watching over them.

While Yanma and Jerami leave Ishabana, Kaguragi is speaking with his sister who reports to him that the Bugnarak are rounding up all of the palace’s people and could begin executing them. Kaguragi urges her to flee the palace, but Suzume doesn’t think she’d be able to. Instead, she will stall until he can get there.

Suzume puts on a show and gets Douga to play along. Douga protests Racules bowing down to the Bugnarak, saying he is loyal to him and not any monster. Desnarak orders Racules to kill Douga. If not, then Racules will be killed instead. Especially as he is no longer on the throne and without a Shugod.

Racules points his sword at Douga. But Douga manages to run away. Suzume and other Shugoddamians soldiers follow.

Outside, Gira is able to save Kogane and Boone from Sanagims. He thanks Kogane for helping to protect the orphans while he’s been gone and assures her he will save the country from the invaders.

Gira henshins and fights off the Sanagims. Kogane says he looks like a real king.

Back inside, Racules turns to Desnarak and reminds him that their alliance has them as equals. But DiamondDanjim knocks Racules to the ground. Desnarak says instead of just wiping out humanity, he will have them wallow in despair long enough to satisfy his rage.

Racules forces himself up and says he will live long enough to see his cause come to fruition. He tosses his sword at DiamondDanjim and runs out of the palace where he runs into Yanma and Jerami.

Racules thinks they are here to help him and says they need to bring the alliance back together to drive the Bugnarak away. But Yanma reminds Racules that he tore the treaty up and almost had him killed.

Racules tries to run away, but Jerami shoots webs at him. Yanma points his sword at Racules’ neck and demands he get on his knees to apologize. But Yanma doesn’t even give him a chance to do so and swings his sword to strike him down.

Gira yells out to Yanma, but Yanma actually pushes Racules down onto Kaguragi’s fart cushion. Yanma and Jerami laugh hard and says Racules better recognize who is on top now.

Gira, Yanma and Jerami drag Racules back inside the castle and presents him to Desnarak. Kamejim warns them not to speak so flippantly to Desnarak who says he could kill everyone in Shugoddam who are essentially their hostages now.

Kaguragi and Hymeno come in to report that the Shugoddamians have been safely evacuated, the Bugnarak outside have been taken care of and Toufu food is being given to the hungry peoples.

Desnarak laughs that they have just assembled here to meet their deaths. But Gira says that a country is not its ruler, but its people. A king is responsible for slaying enemies of the country. And if Desnarak cannot understand that, he is not fit for this throne.

Rita arrives to declare that the kingdoms will reach across borders and rise above self-interest to form a new organization: 五王國 異懷事案 対策用戰略 救命部隊 or “Ohsama Sentai” for short and “Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger” to take on the name of the legendary Shugoshin.

The six Ohgers henshin together for the first time. Gira takes on Daigorg, Rita and Hymeno face Kamejim, Jerami fights Desnarak and Kaguragi and Yanma take on DiamondDanjim.

Gira laughs and uphenshins to King Kuwagata, now better able to take on Daigorg. The others have driven Desnarak and Kamejim here as well and they leave as soon as DaimondDanjim embiggens.

Gira summons the Shugods to form Extreme King-Ohger and all six of them hop in. Jeramie separates in order to shoot a web net at DiamondDanjim and that allows them to deliver a finisher.

The Bugnarak have withdrawn from Shugoddam. Rita says Racules must admit to his crimes. Racules asks if it is a crime to protect his peoples. Hymeno tells Rita to just drag him away, but Rita says they cannot. Yanma reminds Rita that Racules almost had him killed. But Rita says Yanma’s little games have evened the score already. Rita is upset that Yanma stepped in, thus no longer making Racules eligible to stand trial for that crime.

Gira instead wants to duel Racules.

Episode Thoughts

A pretty good episode and a nice way to bring the team together officially for the first time. My one criticism is that with the show being so fast-paced and not allowing us to breathe and absorb everything that’s happened, it can definitely feel a bit rushed. Let us marinate in the goings on a little bit and really take it all in for maximum effect.

Still, it was a good way for a nice climactic episode, Yet other than the Ohgers coming together, technically, nothing else has changed too much. The Bugnarak are still threats. The kings will all still look after their kingdoms first and foremost. And all the Kingohgers’ pasts (including Racules’) are still as much of a mystery too.

All of this is good news of course. It’s episode 19. And for me, I don’t want to see any of those story points get wrapped up yet. Even next week with the Gira-Racules duel, I don’t expect we will find out everything just yet. At least, I hope not.

Maybe it’s because we’re so used to slowburns that this fast-paced season is something so different and new. Hehe

Anyway, a good episode that had a lot of action, but also some touches of lighthearted fun.
