Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 44 – New Strategy

After learning that Manuel’s escorts have been murdered, the Armstrong Bros continue to defend him. But Dr. Smith shows them CCTV footage of Manuel disguising himself as a CBF pilot to sneak into the engineering bay. Mark, correctly, points out that this is the second time that they have been nagulangan’d.

Meanwhile, Manuel returns to the Skull Base and wants to be returned back to his normal, not-disgusting form. Zuhl presses the button and Zardoz is back,

Zardoz leads a toast to the impending end of Terra Eirthu before he explains what he’s learned during his mission. He shows them a photo of the Voltes team and Zuhl is surprised that they’re just a bunch of musmoses. Zardoz has a new plan to exploit the Voltes team’s weakness.

Later, Zandra sits with Zardoz on his bed as he looks at the boat Little Jon gave him. She tells him how worried she was for him. But he says they are just weak, emotional nilalang who would do and sacrifice anything for people they care about. Their biggest weakness is the flimsy love they have for one another and that is what will bring their downfall.

Back at CBF, the Armstrong Bros run into Jamie all dressed up. Steve wants to apologize for everything he said to her the other day and hopes they can return to the way things were.

Mark arrives to pick Jamie up for their dinner date. Steve tries to protest, but Mark assures him that he has paalam’d and gotten permission to head to the mainland. Jamie says bye to her -friend- Steve.

At dinner, Mark is telling a funny story, but Jamie seems very sad. He asks if she’s okay. She says she knows Mark is putting his best self forward for her, but she still feels something is missing. Mark asks if it is Steve and he says that Jamie can eventually get over her feelings for Steve. And possibly, she can grow to love him instead.

Jamie nods and smiles. Mark takes this opportunity to try and kiss her hand, but she pulls away. He apologizes and she says it’s alright.

Meanwhile, Zambojil tells Zardoz that he will send his replacement to take over this mission. But Zardoz says he will prove himself. Zambojil says he is this close to thinking he took in a worthless person in Zardoz. Zardoz is sure he will make Zambojil regret what he’s said.

After hanging up, Zardoz smashes Little Jon’s boat and is determined to destroy Voltes V.

Zambojil tells Oslack to prepare himself as he will be the one to replace Zardoz once he eventually fails.

Back at CBF, a small spaceship is detected heading for them. Dr. Smith activates a yellow alert and the Voltes team heads to the command center.

Dr. Smith is not ready to shoot the ship down as it has not made any aggressive moves. They make contact with the ship and its pilot is… Ned Armstrong?

Episode Thoughts

Now wouldn’t it been so exciting had we not been spoiled to this cliffhanger in the preview yesterday? Tsk tsk.

Anyway, I kinda hope that this will be the third time the Armstrong Bros get nagulanganed or tricked. Lol It would be funny. Because they apparently do not learn from past mistakes.

I guess it’s possible that this is part of Zardoz’s plan. But it’s funny how Zardoz suddenly gets a recap of the show so far. Shouldn’t he only remember moments he was a part of and witnessed himself? Or did he log-in to YouTube while on Earth lolol

Also, doesn’t Zardoz know what his father looks like? So then he would know they are brothers. If not, then shouldn’t he have somehow found that out while at CBF like he was able to get video recaps of events before he actually set foot on the base? A bit of a plot hole there. But oh well.

We’ll see what this “new strategy” is.

Meanwhile, still rooting for you bro Mark, our awkward king! Lol Whatever makes you happy! But Jamie is just not going to get over Steve, unfortunately. Lol

Overall, another solid episode actually. Four in a row!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
