Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 43 – Attack Orders

Voltes V Legacy Episode 43 Recap

Dr. Smith has put CBF under red alert as Manuel has gone missing. The Voltes team head to the command center and are unsure why all the trouble over Manuel.

Zardoz steals a CBF uniform and eavesdrops outside of the command center.

Dr. Smith posits the idea that he might just be a Boazanian, they have no idea. Mark tells the others not to be so naïve. They’ve already been tricked once. Dr. Smith agrees and points out all his suspicious movements while being here. Steve says they are being judgmental. If Manuel really was an enemy, then he should’ve done something bad already. But instead, Manuel has been like a brother to them.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 43 Recap

Dr. Smith refuses to put the camp at risk. Especially when the Voltes team are Earth’s last line of defense.

Zardoz ditches his CBF uniform and walks back to the command center as the Voltes team comes out. Manuel apologizes for causing all the fuss just because he was bored in the medical bay. Dr. Smith doesn’t believe that and says he must leave immediately. Steve protests, but Manuel says it’s alright. He’ll leave. Big Bert wants them to hatid Manuel, but Dr. Smith forbids them and instead orders a military escort to ensure Manuel leaves CBF.

Manuel wants to change into fresh clothes before going home and Steve and Big Bert accompany him. Mark tells Jamie and Little Jon that he will follow as he does not trust Manuel.

While in the locker room, Zardoz calls his generals and orders them to immediately attack CBF in order for him to confirm that Steve and Friends are the Voltes pilots.

The general attack alarm sounds and the Voltes team hurries over to change. Dr. Smith tells them they are being attacked by the same Skull Ship that hurt Mama Armstrong. He will take care of Manuel here at camp.

Zardoz sees this entire conversation and confirms the Voltes team’s identities. After they’ve launched, Zardoz calls Draco and orders him not to attack the Voltes team. Rather, have them be chased away instead. Draco does not understand, but Zardoz just tells him to follow orders.

The Voltes team gets several direct hits at the Skull Ship, but Draco is able stealthily slip away. Steve says they must look for it and avenge their mama.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 43 Recap

Back at CBF, Manuel is ready to leave as Dr. Smith arrives with some escorts. Manuel asks what the alarms are for, but Dr. Smith says that’s none of his concern.

Later, the Voltes team return to camp when they fail to find the Skull Ship. But Steve, Big Bert and Little Jon hurry to catch Manuel before he leaves.

Jamie points out that the Armstrong Bros have grown very attached to Manuel. Dr. Smith says just hearing Manuel’s name immediately makes them forget what the Boazanians have done. They can’t even acknowledge the possibility that the Boazanians are just playing around with them. But Mark says he doesn’t think that’s the case. He believes there is a specific reason the Skull Ship appeared today.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 43 Recap

The Armstrong Bros catch Manuel before he reaches the gates. Little Jon gifts him with a model ship so that he can remember them always. Steve says to just call the camp hotline to reach them so they can keep in touch.

Steve offers his hand out. Manuel remembers Little Jon teaching him how to do a handshake. Manuel takes Steve’s hand and squeezes it hard. Little Jon hugs his Kuya Manuel, but he forces Little Jon’s hands off him.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 43 Recap

Manuel walks away and finally leaves Camp Big Falcon. Steve can’t stop thinking about the firm handshake.

Outside, the two officers accompanying Manuel comment how they didn’t know they’d be escorting him so far from the base. Manuel suddenly stops and assures them this is where he is being picked up. Zardoz calls his ride and a flying saucer comes flying in. Two Boazanian soldiers teleport down and the CBF officers tell Manuel to stand back.

But Zardoz reveals he is a Boazanian by snapping the neck of one of the CBF officers while the Boazanian soldiers shoot the other one.

Episode Thoughts

Why spoil everything in the previews?!?!?! What is wrong with these people. My goodness.

Anyway, a good episode. Sad that the Manuel arc is over. Would’ve been nice to see him lurk around a bit more. But it wrapped up well. Showing again that Zardoz is not an idiot at all, but quite skilled and intelligent. Just up against a more powerful foe.

The final scene with the brothers and Steve finally *getting* it, kind of after Manuel nearly squeezed his hand to burst lol, was great. I would’ve wanted Little Jon to feel a bit strange about Manuel forcing his hug off though. Just to emphasize how much the Armstrong Bros love their new kuya contrast with Zardoz’s true intentions.

We got like a 1% glimmer of hope that maybe Zardoz can truly warm up to not only the Armstrong Bros, but humans in general. But nope. Snapping someone’s neck seems pretty clear how you feel about them lol

I do hope the show will keep these moments in Zardoz’s back pocket though. Have him be absolutely brutal toward the Armstrong Bros, but then remembering their kindness to him right before the big reveal that they are all brothers. It will make it more painful for everyone involved!

It was funny seeing Steve so forceful and adamant about defending his Kuya Manuel to Dr. Smith. Everyone at CBF are so balimbing. Switching up left and right, every other minute lol No wonder they get attacked often! Lol

Anyway, not only spoiling Ned’s apparent return. But no build up whatsoever other than a few random scenes last week (or was that two weeks ago). Again, the pacing on this show is so strange. Perhaps because of the way they’ve edited the daily episodes out of what will likely be longer, hour-long episodes later.

But a solid episode nonetheless.

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 43 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
