While Voltes V is on their back and weighed down to the ground, Steve orders Little Jon to concentrate power on their right arm in order to use their chain knuckles. It gets a direct hit on Dainegu’s shoulder. That gives Voltes V the opportunity to break free. Mark whips out his whip and top and gets more direct hits at the Beastfighter.

Zardoz and Co. can do nothing but stare in disbelief as Voltes V charges up the Laser Sword to deliver a finishing blow. Zardoz screams in anger.

Later, Jamie is on the terrace as she thanks Apable for bringing her water she asked for. But after drinking it, she begins to feel a bit dizzy. He suggests she head back to her room to rest and offers to escort her back.

As they leave, Big Bert tells Steve he should be the one to accompany her. But Steve thinks it’s kind of embarrassing to be on Jamie’s tail all the time.

By the time they get to Jamie’s room, Apable has to drag her onto the bed. He gets his gun ready, but Jamie wakes up and triggers her alarm. Apable knocks Jamie out as Steve overrides the door’s security lock to get in.

Apable and Steve fight. But knowing bullets do nothing to Steve, Apable says he’ll just slit Steve’s throat until he bleeds to death.

Episode Thoughts

What an odd episode. First of all, it *felt* like a 10-minute episode. When you think about it, it basically only included the typical toku end-of-episode MOTW battle. And that’s it. Very strange.

And then you pair it with the #KillJamie stuff. Seriously, Eva walking out during an attack is hilariously unnecessary. Instead of considering her and Apable a real threat to Jamie or anyone else, they come across as a goofy pair or even a joke. So I don’t know if that’s the intention. But if it is, then it only makes this plot thread even more annoying and irrelevant.

And to end the episode with it like the Dainegu battle was no big deal makes the Beastfighter of the Week battles feel shoehorned in. Like, you feel the show would rather not have those scenes, yet are required to so they just have to do it.

Also, why did they call the thing Dainegu in their social media two episodes ago when “Dainegu” only appears in today’s episode. And again, for such a short, inconsequential time. WTF? No coordination between the show and the social media interns.

So again, cool action visuals. But as an episode, quite disappointing and underwhelming.

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 33 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

It’s in three parts again today for whatever reason:

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
