Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 31 – Beastfighter in Tandem

Steve decides they have to focus on the Beastfighter that’s approaching CBF rather than try and go find Little Jon. Jamie and Big Bert try to convince Steve of the opposite, but Mark agrees they must prioritize the greater good. They begin arguing with Big Bert saying some hurtful things to Mark. But Dr. Smith overrides Steve’s order and tells them to save Little Jon first.

Steve thanks Dr. Smith and they get ready to leave. But Major Kelly stops them and says the launchpad will require major repairs so they will have to go all the way around to get to the Volt Machines.

Commander Robinson holograms himself to Dr. Smith to assure them they EDF will support CBF. Eva, for some reason, speaks up and says there is no hope. But Commander Robinson says they must do all they can.

Meanwhile, Little Jon does his best to try and fight off Neeg. But Zardoz orders Neeg to help the other Beastfighter instead, so it releases Little Jon. He is able to zoom back toward CBF.

Fighter jets face off against flying saucers. CBF shoots missiles at the Beastfighter Daiga. Little Jon calls the others as they are about blast off from CBF, but they lose contact immediately. As they fly forward, Big Bert apologizes to the others for falling head over heels for Judy and admits that she was a spy.

They refocus on the mission at hand and good thing too as both Beastfighters set their sights on the four of them.

Over at the Skull, Judy sneaks in and manages to acquire a blaster before making her way to Zardoz. Zuhl sees and follows her.

Zardoz orders Draco to go help the two Beastfighters. But just then Judy arrives and shoots at Zardoz, only for him to be shielded by the computer. Zuhl manages to knock the blaster out of her hands and pin her to the wall. Zardoz orders him to kill her. But Zandra wants to do it. She and Zuhl argue over who will and that allows Judy to escape.

Zardoz tells Zuhl that he made a mistake in choosing his spy. Zuhl assures Zardoz that he will remain loyal to him. Zardoz says he thought wrong about Zuhl and just hopes Zandra will find and kill the traitor.

Zandra finds Judy and shoots at her leg. Zandra laughs and mocks Judy. But Judy locks herself in the portalis room by shooting at the door controls. She is able to teleport away before Zandra can get in.

Meanwhile, Little Jon is back and joins the others just as they are struggling against the Beastfighters.

Episode Thoughts

More action = Better episode. Always. The weakest part of the episode was the arguing at CBF and then Big Bert apologizing in the middle of battle. Two very contrived and forced moments that really didn’t do anything to add to the tension or excitement. Instead, they made me roll my eyes like Mark did lolol

Big Bert is really doing his best to try and best Steve in being an annoying prick lol

But thankfully, lots more action to carry the episode and save the day again. Good to see the CBF and EDF struggling a lot. It adds to the idea that the Voltes team are not yet invincible. Which of course, would be quite boring. I guess them being a mess can add to that. But big knock down, drag out battles are much more exciting than petty arguing lol

Though the Judy spying stuff has been just meh, the action in seeing her fighting back definitely helped to make that part of the episode interesting. I’m looking forward to her tragic death just as she reveals the truth to Big Bert. If it’s not going to be like that, then I’m probably going to roll my eyes like Mark again. Lol We want that kind of drama that will fire them up and lead to more fighting and violence and action! Lololol

Anyway, overall, a very good episode.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
