Music Monday, October 11, 2021 (Part 2) – Youngjae, NOA, Paul Kim, WOODZ

Excellent releases from four talented soloists: Youngjae, NOA, Paul Kim, WOODZ.

“Vibin” by Youngjae

It’s been a long time coming, but GOT7’s Choi Youngjae has finally released his first solo album. I’ve been waiting for this day ever since GOT7’s debut, to be honest. As my GOT7 bias (and to be clear, Jaebum and Jinyoung have been my biases in general since Dream High and JJ Project), I’ve always been a fan of Youngjae and his talent. I was impressed by him having debuted after only a couple of months as a trainee. And over the years, I’ve really loved his original music which he has released online under his songwriting name Ars. “Vibin” is indeed a vibe of a song that signals the start of the next chapter in Youngjae’s career. An irresistible dance track that gives Youngjae an opportunity to step into the spotlight all his own.

“Highway” by NOA

NOA has been releasing one great song after another and “Highway” is his latest. The song is a positive, feel-good vibe and NOA’s smooth vocals pair well with the funky melody.

“After Summer (Brilliant Season)” and “Gloomy Sunday” by Paul Kim

After releasing a special project album a couple of months ago, singer-songwriter Paul Kim releases his latest single album of original songs entitled After Summer. Title track “After Summer” and B-side track “Gloomy Sunday” are both excellent tracks that express Paul’s feelings after the last year. The emotional, mellow tracks are wonderfully introspective mood makers. And the accompanying music videos, both employing perfectly executed long takes, bring both tracks to vivid life. Of course, along with Paul Kim’s warm vocals.

“Waiting” by WOODZ

WOODZ is back with his latest album Only Lovers Left and title track “Waiting” is an attention-grabbing song. The dramatic, emotional track offers WOODZ the chance to showcase a different side of himself as an artist and it is a captivating performance.
