Tassel fanboys over Touma and suggests he quit being a writer.
At the shop, Touma tells Mei about being unsure which idea he should flesh out for his next story. A couple of his ideas are based on familiar people around him.
Meanwhile, Storious tells Calibur that combining three Alter Books with the power of his Jaaku Dragon and the Wonder Ride Books will create a Book more powerful than Arthur.
Later, Legeiel and Zooous are suspicious of Storious sneaking around behind their backs. Storious insists everything he does is for their ultimate goal.
At the North Pole, Sophia asks Ogami-san what he thinks about Calibur. She says she has a strange feeling about him. The conversation halts when Kento walks in. But Kento says he’s fine. He also wants to know why his father betrayed them. Ogami-san says as long as Kento is alright and Ren says of course Kento is strong.
In the meantime, Sophia asks Ogami-san and Ren to take care of Megid who have popped up in the city. Storious uses an Ugly Duckling Book to bring forth a Megid.
Tetsuo is excited about the immense power the Arthur Book has. He hopes to create a new Book with it. Touma, Mei and Rintaro walk in. Touma thanks Tetsuo for keeping their swords in top condition, but Tetsuo ignores him. Sophia tells them they all have their roles to play, including Mei. Touma says he is very encouraged when they are all together and feels nothing is impossible when they’re around.
Just then, Mei sees a shining book on the shelf and she opens it to find live video of the Megid rampaging downtown. Sophia asks her to keep the book with her so as to be alerted to Megid attacks.
Touma asks Tetsuo to bring Arthur over when it’s done with maintenance. But since he’s not a swordsman, maybe someone else could do it. Kento drags Touma out of the room and they hurry downtown.
Touma, Rintaro and Kento henshin and take on the three Megids. Calibur suddenly appears, making the battle even more difficult.
Tetsuo takes the Arthur Book and heads into his workshop to grab his sword. Just then, a mysterious woman walks into HQ
Touma tries to extoll the virtues of friendship, but Calibur says he has no need for such things. Calibur warns what Touma sees may not be truth. And he will obtain the absolute power in order to see the truth.
Calibur grabs Touma’s sword and suddenly Touma has a flashback to That Day. Calibur says Touma has no right to the Sword. Sophia is shocked by the strange connection between the two.
Sophia asks Mei to hold down the fort with the strange woman while she leaves.
Calibur engulfs Touma, Rintaro and Kento in a binding spell and takes their Wonder Rider Books. Just then, Tetsuo arrives.
Touma tells Tetsuo to leave as it is too dangerous here. But Tetsuo uses his super hearing to detect the invisible Megid trying to attack. That’s just one surprise he’s got up his sleeve.
Tetsuo pulls out his Hensel and Gretel Book and henshins to Kamen Rider Slash.
Touma is shocked, but Rintaro says Tetsuo is a swordsman just like them. It only took a while for Tetsuo to repair his damaged Rekka.
Tetsuo whips out the Bremen no Rock Band Book and uphenshins. The power up also allows him to have a much flashier personality as he gleefully battles the Megid. He is able to release the others from the binding spell.
Tetsuo tosses the King of Arthur Book to Touma and he double book uphenshins. Facing off against Calibur, Touma is able to retrieve a Saiyuu Journey Rider Book. Rintaro says that Book completes Touma’s Wonder Combo.
Touma locks the new Book in and triple book uphenshins.
Tetsuo rocks out and along with Rintaro and Kento, take care of the Megids of the Week.
Touma takes care of the final one when Calibur shields himself with it.
The mysterious woman is impressed by Touma. She holds a Tri Cerberus Wonder Ride Book in her hand.
Rintaro catches Touma in his arms who is exhausted and drained from using the three Books. Tetsuo says Wonder Combos push swordsmen to their physical and mental limits. But Touma vows to work as hard as Rintaro to help him handle it better.
Holding the Saiyuu Book, Touma suddenly remembers himself with the little boy and little girl.
Anyway, Touma says he wants to write about all his friends and hopes they can read it as soon as he’s done.
Over in the forest, Sophia meets with Calibur and asks who he is. Calibur taunts her about being away from the North Pole. She motions to slash at her, but Ogami-san arrives just in time. Calibur knocks him away and is able to leave.
Tassel suggests Calibur is not who he appears to be.
Episode Thoughts
Did something go completely over my head? Did I miss something? While they’ve certainly hidden Calibur’s face when not in flashbacks, when was it known that whoever is in the Calibur suit today is not indeed Kento’s father? All of a sudden a lightbulb turns on and they believe this is a different person now? When for the first eight episodes, they’ve sulked around with the idea that they were betrayed?
Very strange. That part of the episode felt like it lacked some adequate lead-up. So I didn’t really care what was happening there.
Which is the complete opposite of how I felt about the rest of the episode. Definitely a nice debut for Tetsuo as Slash. I would’ve preferred if the episode was all about him instead. But it was a fun episode nonetheless. It’s a very interesting and fun contrast to have Tetsuo be this shy, timid guy but then have the opportunity to be very flashy when henshined.
Since it was Tetsuo’s moment to shine, I thought the new girl was Tetsuo’s sister or something especially when his book is Hansel and Gretel. But I guess not. lol For that part of the episode, I just loved Mei being involved even if just hanging around and being funny while everyone else is so serious.
So another week, another opportunity to flesh out the Storious/Legeiel/Zooous dynamic has passed. I am really eager to get to know more about those three and seeing extended scenes of them together rather than these very quick fleeting scenes with them. It’s only episode 9, but it feels like it’s been a long time with Saber already. Yet we still don’t know anything about these three. Now we have a brand new character again plus the possibility of yet ANOTHER new character with whoever Calibur is. But still nothing much yet from Storious, Legeiel and Zooous? That’s unfortunate.
I haven’t even mentioned Touma and his friendship pep talk. But that part of the episode also felt a little flat as well. Though not as much as the supposed shocking development with Calibur.
I definitely noticed the episode had a lot of action though, especially that wonderful use of drones during the Touma-Calibur battle. Then I saw that Koichi Sakamoto actually directed it! It all makes sense! It’s great to see the master at work.
Overall, yay for Daishinji Tetsuo and Koichi Sakamoto. Meh to everything else.

It does seem kind of strange tht suddenly Caliber is NOT who we were first told he is but I am still curious as to WHO he is and what happened to the previous Swordsman.
And Slash’s debut on stage was brilliant!
Yes it was a great debut. I kinda wish the episode was all about him instead.
