Recap: Voltes V: Legacy, Episode 33 – Attack

Mark walks past Jamie’s room and sees a strange man inside. It’s actually an IT guy updating Jamie’s computer terminal. Mark says he’ll wait here in the room for Jamie then. But Mark sees Jamie’s photo on the nightstand and decides to sneak out with it.

Back in his own room, he pins Jamie’s photo alongside the photos of his parents and Alpha as he introduces them to her. He smiles and says goodnight to Jamie’s photo.

Steve is still waiting in Judyalah’s home when Zardoz’s forces storm in. Steve is able to grab one of the blasters and shoots at the Boazan troops. But Judy pops up, assures Steve she is not a kalaban and throws a smoke bomb into the room to allow the two of them to escape.

Once they are safely away, Judyalah collapses by a tree and asks Steve why he is helping here when he considers her a kalaban. Steve says it’s because his brother loves and trust her. He confronts her using Big Bert, but she says she had no choice.

Steve says everyone has a choice, but Judyalah explains how alipins like her are treated by the oppressors of her world. She says her sister would have been killed if she did not follow Prince Zardoz’s orders. She goes on to explain that Zardoz is the prince ordered to conquer Earth.

Judyalah asks Steve to understand how she must have felt since he too has siblings he wants to protect. She admits that she has not told Zardoz of their true identities because she also has fallen in love with Bert. She hoped to be able to explain all this to him, but she says Steve is the only one who can now.

Judyalah asks Steve to tell Big Bert that she loves him with all her heart.

Later, Steve finds Big Bert and says they can return to CBF now since he saw the Boazanians kill Judy. Big Bert does not understand why they would do that. But once he accepts the fact, he cries.

Back at CBF, Steve heads to Dr. Smith’s office and asks Jamie and the others to leave so they can speak privately. Steve tells Dr. Smith everything that Judy told him and says he believes her. Steve recounts that they had hid from the Boazanians, but Judy knocked him in the head with a rock. And when he regained consciousness, she was gone.
Both Steve and Dr. Smith decide not to tell Big Bert the truth as it would only cause him more emotional and mental harm. And this is best for the team.

Steve goes to visit Big Bert in his room and tells him to change so they can go meet some chicks. Big Bert says he can’t easily get over Judy just by meeting chicks.

Steve thinks about Judy’s dying wish and apologizes to Big Bert. Bert has no idea what he’s apologizing for, but Steve is confident this is best for all of them.

Meanwhile, the troops tell Zardoz that Judalah is probably dead. So whatever. They turn their focus to Daiga and Negg.

Episode Thoughts

Definitely one of the better, though simple drama-focused episodes.

First though, can we talk about Mark? Lol Nafa-fall na talaga siya oh! Lolol

So Steve was a creep for secretly taking photos of Jamie, but I’ll give Mark a pass with him stealing her photo instead. And really it’s only because I like Mark more than PK hambog Steve. Sorry not sorry! lol

With the Judyalahlah story, I think it was a good climax. I mean, sure, she can pop up alive later on for a happy ending or something. But for now, I think it was a very interesting way to wrap up this arc. It added a bit more to Steve’s character in a way that shows how he struggles with balancing family and mission. It’s definitely a more interesting angle than him being simply an asshole all the time.

I get him wanting to keep the truth from Big Bert, especially knowing how the Armstrong Bros can be too hot-blooded and hasty with their decisions. And seeing how Big Bert has acted too. It’s best they keep it from him. Especially for some nice drama later on. hehe We want to see more brothers fighting and confrontations and all that!

Okay stuff with the Boazan Crew. But this episode was mostly on Judy spilling her heart out to Kuya Steve. Not much happened. It really did feel like a 15 minute episode. But when GMA is considering extending the show for like 50 more episodes, then you know we’ll see more episode like this! lol Just kidding, but you know.

Overall, a solid episode.

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
