Leg 1

The Race got off to a very fast start as teams were excited to bank some money on the very first ever CashKarera Leg. At SM City Baguio, Miriam & Ardy, Christian & Sam and Ben & Mike decided not to search for special items and instead go directly to the Road Block. Elma & Jojo stumbled upon an Express Pass and Kakai & Cai found a Super Yield. Doug & Chesca give up after seeing them find items. Ina & Erika are next to leave after they find a Pit Stop Pass. Sheryn & Mel and Tom & Antoinette cut their losses and hurry over to the Road Block while Wendell & Saviour find a Fast Forward Flip, MM & MJ find a Super Yield, Ehra & Michelle get an Express Pass and Jacob & Jerika get a Pit Stop Pass.

At the Road Block, Christian and Mike are able to overtake Ardy at the rappel. But Elma & Jojo and Miriam & Ardy have stronger navigational skills, getting themselves to Balatoc Mines first. Christian & Sam and Ben & Mike, who decided to work together to drive from SM City to Balatoc Mines, end up taking a wrong turn. That allows Doug & Chesca, Ehra & Michelle, Jacob & Jerika and Ina & Erika to arrive at the mines before them too.

Jacob & Jerica had left the Road Block in last place, but made up a lot of time heading to their brand-new Kia Sportage and in driving to the mines. They make up even more time when Jacob hits the right spot and almost immediately releases the bullion and Interchange coin. Michelle, Jojo, Sam and Miriam are able to break open their rocks next. While MJ, Ben, Kakai, Mel and Tom have trouble with theirs.

At the Strawberry Farm, leading teams Ehra & Michelle (who arrive first) and Jacob & Jerika believe the giant strawberries will be faster and easier to complete. Elma & Jojo and Miriam & Ardy decide to make tupig instead. And that ends up being the faster Detour. Wendell & Saviour and Tom & Antoinette also choose Tupig, allowing them move up a couple of spots.

Kakai & Cai and Sheryn & Mel, who had been trailing all day so far, also choose Tupig and end up passing several teams who continued to struggle with the giant strawberries. Doug & Chesca, meanwhile, fall further behind as they have trouble finding and then pushing the correct strawberries into place.

After teams are scared at the Diplomat Hotel, they hurry over to Easter Weaving Room. Miriam and Elma seem to have a headstart at the Road Block. But Jerika comes in and manages to just pass them. Christian and MM have a bit of trouble getting the hang of the weaving, which allows Ehra and Cai to pass them as well. Saviour and Mike fall to the back of the pack, while Doug & Chesca continue to bring up the rear.

Elma & Jojo’s navigation skills look to be their biggest strength as they arrive at Wright Park first after departing Stobosa in 6th. They step on the Mat and claim their very first win of the Race. It is a close finish for the next teams as Jacob & Jerika, Ehra & Michelle, Christian & Sam and Miriam & Ardy step on the Mat within minutes of each other.

MM & MJ, Ina & Erika are teams 6 and 7 while Kakai & Cai and Sheryn & Mel are able to get themselves out of the bottom to finish in 8th and 9th, respectively.

Various missteps and struggles dropped Wendell & Saviour, Ben & Mike, Tom & Antoinette to the back of the pack. But it is Doug & Chesca who are unable to recover from their navigation and Detour struggles. They check-in last and choose their Non-Elimination Penalty Envelope, revealing an Automatic Rewind!
