It’s all about avoiding a potential Non-Elimination Penalty in the Final Leg as teams race across the island of Maui on the Penultimate Leg.
The Final Three experience a stunning sunrise at the summit of Haleakala. But the Race must go on as they depart at the same time to drive to Jollibee in Kahului for breakfast and their next clue. Elma & Jojo’s driving skills get them into a slim lead that they hold through to the Lahaina Jodo Mission.
MM & MJ, however, are able to catch up and then pass Elma & Jojo in carrying the pig-equivalent sandbags. Ehra & Michelle, meanwhile, have a bit of trouble which keeps them in last place through the kalua pig preparation.
Ehra & Michelle make up a bit of time at the Detour, but MM & MJ maintain their also slim lead after choosing the Niu side.
After the Banyan Tree, the long drive to the Garden of Eden allows Elma & Jojo to move back into first place. But MM & MJ and Ehra & Michelle are only five minutes behind each other.
With Elma already at 12 Road Blocks, Jojo must complete this one and is able to maintain their lead with his good memorization. But the trek through the forest loses Elma & Jojo some time. And the teams are only ten minutes apart from each other on the way to Aunty Sandy’s.
MM & MJ move back into first after leaving Aunty Sandy’s, but Elma & Jojo’s ace driving gives them back a five-minute lead. A few missed turns by MM & MJ allow for Ehra & Michelle to move up.
But the windsurfing Road Block ends up deciding the Leg. As Jojo struggles with the task, MJ gets the hang of the balance first. Michelle is next to finish the Road Block, almost 20 minutes later.
MM & MJ claim the Leg win and the P300K prize. Ehra & Michelle finish as Team #2. Which means Elma & Jojo are last and end up choosing the
Speed Bump.
