The Amazing Race Canada Season 2 Wrap-Up

And another international Amazing Race season better than the American one has just wrapped up. The Amazing Race Canada started last year and was a resounding success. It’s no different this year.

Season 2, overall, was a great season. Definitely more enjoyable and more creative than any recent American TAR season. (Most definitely the, lets just forget, TAR24.)

Traveling to Hong Kong, Macau and France was awesome, despite half the Canadian TAR audience absolutely hating the idea the Race left Canada. Next season, it’ll be interesting to see where they decide to go, because there’s not many Canadian destinations left without either revisiting locations or having generic, irrelevant tasks.

But that’s something to worry about next season.

The Final Leg begins as teams will not fly to the country’s capital, Ottawa. After flying on the same flight through Montreal, teams find the next clue at the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge.

Teams must hop in a taxi to the Fleet Street Pumping Station where they will find an Olympic rafting training facility. They will gear up, pick a kayak, run down the river and then row to a marked dock at the entrance to the Rideau Canal.

Teams must drive themselves in a brand new Chevrolet Trax to a birthday party at the local DQ in Shediac, New Brunswick.

Sukhi & Jinder are happy to have each other as family on the Race. Meaghan is still upset about losing to Sukhi & Jinder. Mickey & Pete are “hungry hippos” and hate being the “bridesmaid.”

Not far from the Pit Start, Sukhi runs a red light and they are immediately penalized 15 minutes. Continue reading

Teams must fly to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. At the airport, the first four teams are shocked to see Ryan & Rob have survived yet again.

Once in Charlottetown, teams can find their next clue hidden in a secret compartment in a brand new Chevy Impala. The clue points teams to Red Shores Racetrack.

All teams arrive at the Racetrack at the same time. Here, they will take part in harness racing by becoming both the horse and the driver and racing a racing cat known as a sulky around the track for two complete laps. Continue reading

The 7th Leg begins as teams learn they are flying to Normandy, France. This year marks the 100th anniversary of World War I as well as 70 years since June 1944 when 14,000 Canadians landed on Juno Beach. Jon says this Leg is a tribute to the brave men and women who have served the country.

The 6th Leg begins and teams must now fly to Winnipeg and find The Golden Boy at the Manitoba Legislative Building.

Teams get started on the 5th Leg of the Race and find out they are returning to Canada, this time flying to the Yukon.

Once there, teams will drive brand new Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duties to Sky High Ranch. Teams are also given one Loonie onto their Scotiabank Gold American Express Card.

This is the Leg Natalie & Meaghan need to hand over the Express Pass. They decide to give it to Pierre & Michel, but with some conditions. They won’t U-Turn each other, but they hope Pierre & Michel can help them out and U-Turn someone who might be on their butts in the future. Continue reading

Recap: The Amazing Race Canada 2, Episode 4 – “They’re Harshing My Mellow”

Teams begin the 4th Leg of the Race by hopping on a high speed ferry to Macau. There is a sign-up sheet at the TurboJET ferry terminal for two ferries, leaving at 4pm and 4:30pm.

On the first ferry are Natalie & Meaghan, Cormac & Nicole, Ryan & Rob and Pierre & Michel. On the second ferry are Alain & Audrey, Mickey & Pete, Rex & Bob and Sukhi & Jinder.

Once teams arrive in Macau, they must head to the A-Ma Temple and take part in a traditional Buddhist ceremony to ward off evil spirits by lighting a string of firecrackers. Continue reading
