First off, I’ll say that last season’s Quest 3 was much more exciting. The ship-moving challenge I think was one of the highlights last year as it really best exemplified the huge scale of Physical: 100.
But I will also say that this year’s Quest 3 was pretty good on paper. Production value on point again. But it was hilarious when swimmer Jung You In commented how they haven’t had any tasks involving the “underground” of the season’s title yet lol I’ve been thinking the same thing.
It honestly would be like if they subtitled the first season as Physical: 100 of the Caribbean or Physical: 100 High Seas or something like that lol
First though, let’s back-up to the pre-Quest. And of course it’s going to be pull-ups. Like, I feel the TPTB at the show sit in a room and think of whatever tasks and challenges best favor the big hot guys. And that’s what they’ll put into the show. Lol
Anyway, Quest 3 was divided into four rounds. And each team member needed to compete in at least one of the rounds. Teams would earn points for their placement in each round. And the team with the least points would be eliminated.
First round had two members of the team participating. The first would push a cart and attach it to other carts that needed to be positioned and realigned onto the tracks. They would reach the other end and need to transport two tons-worth of weighted sacks back to the start. The team members would take turns loading and pushing as much as they can. The second round had only one person do all this.
Round three had teams kick weighted bags while traversing monkey bars. Two team members would take turns pushing two bags and making their way back. While the final round had one team member doing all of it.
The first trio had Team Jung Ji Hyun choosing Teams Lee Won Hee and Andre Jin, two teams they believed they could easily beat. That left Teams Kim Dong Hyun, Lee Jae Yoon and Hong Beom Seok to battle it out in the second group.
In the first round, it was a valiant effort by Da Sol and Yeong Chan. But the challenge was obviously against them. You gotta love that contrived helping out at the end though. They didn’t mind exploiting other teams’ weaknesses as long as it ensures their win.
Team Jung Ji Hyun and Team Andre Jin take 1st and 2nd in Round 1.
In Round 2, we got to see the ladies take center stage. Bodybuilder Lim Soo Jin and swimmer Jung You In did well, but Lee Kang Jun easily won it. Team Lee Won Hee take 2nd and they are now tied with Team Andre Jin.
Now, let’s get to some ranting. Why was it left to the teams to decide what to do with the obvious production malfunction. I don’t know if the show inserted those comments from the other teams just to kind of further the false narrative that this is a very sportsmanlike competition and atmosphere. Lol But really, production should be the one to step in and correct the problem. Especially when it is of their own doing.
Instead, they made it seem like it was all out of the goodness of the winning team’s hearts that they would give Team Lee Won Hee another chance. Come on.
Anyway, Round 3 had team Jung Ji Hyun take 3rd, but still maintain the lead with 7 total points. Team Andre Jin are in 2nd with 6 points and Team Lee Won Hee are in last with 5 points.
In the end, it was not a surprise to see Team Jung Ji Hyun take the win with 10 total points. Team Andre Jin move on with 8 points while Team Lee Won Hee are eliminated.
After this first group finished their competition, I was literally like “Wait a minute, we have to go through all of this one more time?!” lol I really hoped they would just speed through it because it really is quite exhausting to watch. I don’t know what’s more exhausting, competing on Physical: 100 or having to sit through three hours of repetitive contests. Lol I could argue watching three hours at 1x speed is more exhausting. Lol
At least they were able to script… I mean, at least the second group of teams was a bit more unpredictable. Even though we can always just look at editing and assume who the preferred winners are.
For Round 1, it went Team Lee Jae Yoon > Team Kim Dong Hyun > Team Hong Beom Seok. Teams Kim Dong Hyun and Hong Beom Seok switched places in Round 2, putting them in a tie going into Round 3.
Round 3 had Team Kim Dong Hyun take 1st followed by Team Hong Beom Seok with Team Lee Jae Yoon fall to last.
Round 4 is where things get a bit unpredictable. Hong Beom Seok leads his team to the win and secures their spot in the next Quest. And a pair of falls on the monkey bars gives us our cliffhanger for the week.
This might be the most unpredictable result yet. But that’s not saying much in comparison to the other more obvious results. We’ll see!
