Haruka is at Donbura stressing over being unable to come up with an engaging concept for her manga when Magerappa suddenly storm the café. HurricaneRed Shiina Yousuke is close behind and battles the henchmen for a strange blue stone.
Haruka gets caught up in Yousuke’s ninpo as the Magerappas are able to escape. Yousuke’s teammates Nanami and Kouta arrive and they are about to go chase after the goons. But Haruka grabs Yousuke’s wrist and says they are not going to leave after they’ve made such a mess of Donbura.

Despite them being in a hurry, Haruka has the Hurricanegers clean their mess. But she is very intrigued by these mysterious people. Considering the ninpo earlier, she asks if they are ninjas. Since they are, she would like to interview them for her manga as she thinks it could make for a good premise.
The Hurricanegers have no time for an interview, but Haruka offers to take care of the cleaning as long as they do this favor for her. The Hurricanegers think this is the easiest way out of this predicament so they give her a CliffsNotes version of Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger.
However, two remaining generals of the Jakanja have been planning a scheme for 20 years. And the blue stone, the Temporal Ore, is key to that plan. The Hurricanegers must stop them. Haruka, however, thinks this is just a great manga plot and imagines ninjas instead fighting over a boy. The Hurricanegers think Haruka is weird.

Just then, the Hurricanegers get a call from Kirarasaka Moeru, Oboro-san’s assistant. She sends them the current location of the Temporal Ore. Before the Hurricanegers can leave, Haruka asks to come with in order to ask them more questions. They don’t want her to get caught in the crossfire, but Haruka henshins to show them that she can fight alongside them too.
They hurry over as the Jakanja general marvels over the Temporal Ore and is looking forward to joining it with the Celestial Ore as the final piece of their plan to make “her” wish come true.
The general says they will use the Ores to travel 200 years into the past. But the Hurricanegers henshin to do what they can to stop them. Haruka watches from the sidelines and takes notes of the Hurricanegers flashy ninpo.

Tarou is heralded in with his flashy entrance and goes straight for the general. He is able to kick the Orb out of the general’s hands and Yousuke catches it. Tarou compliments Yousuke and says he is worthy of being his otomonin. Yousuke says Tarou is 200 years too early to even suggest that.
The general sees this is an opening and slashes at Yousuke. But Yousuke uses ninpo to swap himself out.
The Hurricanegers and Tarou work together to deliver finishers at the general. But the general also uses ninpo and is able to regain possession of the Ore. He proclaims again that he will take it 200 years into the past to carry out the will of Oiranda.

As the general disappears, Moeru pops up and tells the Hurricangers that they have finished the time travel machine so they will be able to travel back to chase after the Jakanja.
Yousuke tells Tarou that it was fun and Tarou acknowledges him. The Hurricangers say goodbye to Haruka who is very excited about all the inspiration she’s gotten for her manga.
Unfortunately, Tarou and Haruka get their memories wiped. And Haruka’s manga inspiration is gone.
When Haruka gets back to the café, she is shocked by the mess it is in, not remembering what happened.

Special Thoughts
Such a nice treat. Even though I have not watched Hurricaneger, it’s still feels very nostalgic and fun to see them in action. And 20 years after their original season!
This special has definitely made me look forward to their 20th anniversary movie. And it was nicely tied into Donbrothers‘ world. Especially with Haruka and her goofy self being the one they interact with the most.
For someone like me who hasn’t watched the original, this special definitely gave a good rundown of what the season is about and who these characters are. And again, a great prelude to the movie coming this year.
