At the end of The Amazing Race Philippines: DryedMangoez Edition Season 21, the future of the (fake) franchise was in doubt. Aside from the difficulties and logistical challenges COVID would present in staging a new season of TARPHDME, the prOdUcErS of the (fake) franchise had lost interest in potentially producing another season.
But miracle of miracles, the realization that a potential 22nd season of The Amazing Race Philippines: DryedMangoez Edition would film and air in the year 2022 somehow reenergized a dying local (fake) version of the dying franchise.
Of course, the difficulties and challenges were still present in pre-production and in crafting a route and tasks that would ensure the continued good health and safety for teams, crew and all locals who would be involved in the Race.
This season was “filmed” in February and March 2022 and destinations were chosen based on entry restrictions, COVID case rates and viability for safe Racing.
In addition, to facilitate safe international travel for cast and crew, The Amazing Race Philippines: DryedMangoez Edition has fostered an unprecedented partnership with the Philippines’ two biggest air carriers: Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. All air travel during this season will be on special chartered flights utilizing the newest and most modern planes in Philippine Airlines’ and Cebu Pacific’s fleet. Each airline will take over different Legs of air travel over the course of the season.
During Legs, there will also be an increased focus on self-driving in order to help teams, crew and local residents maintain as safe an environment as possible. Long-time Amazing Race Philippines partner Kia will continue to provide teams with the vehicles needed to Race as hard as they can, featuring the brand-new 2023 Kia Sportage.
As for the Race itself, new twists and some tweaks will also help to ensure the health, safety and well-being of everyone involved in the Race as well as add more competitive excitement; all to help continue to modernize and freshen up the Race.
Without further ado, here is the season preview for TARPHDME22!
