Canalo talks to MosaRex and says the land Ryusoulers don’t seem like bad people. MosaRex tells Canalo not to be so soft and get fooled. They can’t repeat the tragedy of the past.
Canalo’s sister Oto pops in and says she wants to come to the surface too so she can find a husband. Canalo says she’s too young, but she reminds him she is 123 years old. He orders her to stay put in the water.
Papa Naohisa is amazed by Koh, Melt and Asuna telling him about the ocean Ryusoul tribe. He even suspects Ui of being an ocean Ryusouler in disguise. Koh decides to run out and look for Canalo to try and convince him to join the team.
Ui hurries over to the computer to see Magnet Attraction Talent DONJiro’s newest YouTube upload. But she finds that he hasn’t uploaded anything today. Turns out DONJiro has just been dumped by his girlfriend and Kureon pops in to take advantage of his minus feelings by birthing a Minosaur from him.
Canalo is in the area when the Minosaur begins rampaging downtown, blasting people with beams that forces them to repel each other because of their polarities.
Canalo morphs just as Koh arrives. Koh takes on the Drunns as Canalo takes on the Minosaur on his own. Koh is wowed by Canalo’s power which almost finishes off the Minosaur, but it manages to get away after shielding himself with cars.
Koh approaches Canalo, but Canalo still refuses to work with them. Bamba and Towa arrive and tell Koh not to chase him so hard.
Canalo gets a call from MosaRex who tells him Oto has disappeared. He realizes she has come to the surface.
Back home, Bamba and Towa tell everyone the story of the Ryusoul Tribe civil war that drove one faction into the sea. They have refused to return to the surface ever since for an unknown reason.
On the other side of town, Gachireus scolds Kureon for the Minosaur retreating. Kureon insists he has a plan and drags the Minosaur away.
Meanwhile, Oto has arrived on the surface and happily enjoys land. A bunch of guys think she is so kawaii. But her fun immediately screeches to a halt when she runs into her brother.
Kureon watches as Canalo scolds her and tells her to return to the ocean. Oto says she will. She apologizes for leaving and says she was afraid of being lonely once Canalo marries. Canalo thinks that is so nice of her and appreciates her voluntarily returning home.
But Oto is actually lying and she laughs at her brother being so naïve.
Kureon is sitting on a park bench and catcalls her, inviting her to sit with him.
Canalo hurries downtown when the Minosaur begins rampaging again.
The others arrive and help out as Drunns appear. They morph.
All five of them upmorph to their armor and make quick work of the Drunns before turning their attention to the Minosaur. Canalo tells them to stay out of it. But the Minosaur zaps them and their polarity forces them to repel each other.
Melt gets hurled to Hokkaido, Asuna to Okinawa, Towa to the Tottori sand dunes and Bamba to Kyoto.
Kureon laughs and explains that getting zapped by the Minosaur changes their polarities to be the same so as to repel each other like magnets. The stronger the connection, the farther away one of them gets repelled.
Canalo wasn’t repelled from Koh since they have no existing connection. Just then, the Minosaur zaps Canalo and turns him into a magnet, attracting all the metal in the area and trapping him.
Koh uses a Dino Slash to break Canalo free. Canalo asks why in the world Koh would help him. Koh says it doesn’t matter if they’re from land or sea, they are still both of the Ryusoul tribe.
They seem to have grown a little closer as they repel each other a little.
Suddenly, Kureon appears, dragging Oto along and warning that she will die if they resist. The Minosaur attacks Koh, but Koh doesn’t fight back. Canalo is confused as to why Koh would do that.
Oto tells Canalo to just forget about her and fight.
Koh says he’s fine and just trying to come up with a plan.
Drunns have been attacking DONJiro and his minus feelings are now enough for the Minosaur to embiggen.
Melt, Asuna, Towa and Bamba finally arrive in their Kishiryu. Koh summons Tyramigo and hops into KishiryuOh, but tells the others not to fight as Kureon still has Oto.
The Minosaur attacks them during the hesitation, forcing Melt, Asuna, Towa and Bamba to be ejected from their Kishiryu. Koh and KishiryuOh fall into the water, causing the water to splash up onto Canalo.
Kureon tells Canalo that if he can defeat the Ryusoulgers, he will set Oto free. Canalo uses Nobi Soul and ties KishiryuOh up. Canalo then uses BiriBiri Soul and shoots at Koh and KishiryuOh. They collapse to the ground.
Kureon laughs and is about to release Oto. But Gachireus appears and scolds Kureon for actually wanting to go through with the deal.
Canalo understands and says Oto must disappear. He shoots at her, sending her flying over the water. But she is swallowed by MosaRex who leaps out of the water. Canalo explains that it’s alright to get swallowed as they usually come into MosaRex’s mouth when they want to go somewhere.
Canalo tells Koh that they are able to combine now. Kureon laughs, but the five are able to form KishiryuOh Five Knights. Melt realizes Canalo flooded KishiryuOh with a current that turned it into a magnet, thus negating the polarity infused by the Minosaur earlier.
Koh thanks Canalo and the Ryusoulgers proceed to wear down the Minosaur. The Minosaur tries running off, but MosaRex leaps out of the water again, bites him in half and finishes him off with a slash of the tail.
Canalo explains that he was able to communicate with MosaRex telepathically when he was splashed with water.
Before Koh can thank him, Canalo has already left.
Back in the water, Canalo and Oto try to explain to MosaRex that the Ryusoulgers may not be so bad. But MosaRex still thinks the land Ryusoulers must have ulterior motives.
Oto says she hates MosaRex.
Well this was a very action packed episode. Like, literally. Lots of action scenes which I very much enjoyed.
I loved the unmorphed fighting before and during their morphing call. And I love how they were fighting while doing the roll call as well. It is very refreshing to see that instead of the stock footage that would usually get inserted for the roll call. The whole sequence was very cool.
But of course the biggest plot development is meeting Oto and getting a little more information on their water peoples.
Very interesting that the water Ryusoul tribe are really interested in marriage. lol Oto’s actress being, I think, 13 years old definitely makes it weird though. Especially during that scene with Kureon being a creeper at the park and those obviously older young men thinking she was cute. lol
I wonder where they’ll go with this land vs water angle of the Ryusoul tribe. But I do appreciate that we are getting a little more backstory about them. The tease for next episode was basically “What is this season all about?” We haven’t really gotten much in terms of where we’re headed overall. So next week should be a big one.
Another thing I enjoyed this episode was a little nod to the Ryusoulgers’ relationships. One of the most important things I look to in a Sentai or Kamen Rider is the relationships of the main characters, especially if they’re in a team like on Sentai.
The Minosaur’s gimmick of polarities was very interesting and subtle. Kureon explained that the stronger the original bond, the farther they get repelled. So Melt and Asuna were repelled farther away from Koh (as they are closer to each other) while Towa and Bamba, though they have a good connection with Koh now, were thrown a little closer to Tokyo as they are not as close.
And of course Koh and Canalo not repelling each other because of their nonexistent bond.
So it was a nice little look at their connections. But I definitely hope they can work on exploring those connections and teamwork in future episodes. Especially as they officially bring Canalo into the team too.
Overall a pretty action packed episode with some big developments. But this next episode seems to be a big one, so let’s hope the story really gets going now.
