Episode Thoughts

Wow! That was a very fascinating episode. Obviously, this was another episode focused on a character wanting to die. But not only that, they essentially touched on the issue of assisted suicide and euthanasia, didn’t they? Though she wasn’t necessarily physically ill. But still, she was certainly looking for Towa and Bamba to help her die with her loved one.

It really has been fascinating to watch Ryusoulger develop. They’ve been a little bit all over the place with some nice highs and some VERY low lows. But it appears they’re getting to a good rhythm now. I liked this episode for many reasons.

First, they tackled the suicide aspect (is this now officially a running theme for this season?) maybe the best so far of their attempts this season. You can understand where PM Karino is coming from when she expresses how hard it is for her to live all these years and watch her loved ones die. It’s not a new concept when it comes to immortal characters and the like. But it is used well here. The way it unfolded in the beginning with the gang at Chez Tatsui reading the news reports and the viral posts about the prime minister being immortal and dating an old man, you didn’t really know where everything was going after that. But it eventually made perfect sense.

Second, this was a particularly strong psuedo-Bamba focus. This might be the best episode for his character so far. He really shined this episode, most especially in his conversation with PM Karino. He was strong and decisive, but also compassionate.

And next, it’s the overall message the episode seemed to convey. As Bamba basically explained, even if things get hard, you shouldn’t run away from those problems by just dying. Essentially, killing yourself is not a solution to hardship you might be feeling now.

In conjunction with that, the episode was also trying to convey that you should be open and honest. And letting others know how you really feel is a very good thing. It can relieve and avoid conflict and it can help you with your personal mental health as well. Being comfortable with other people and knowing you can say what you truly feel is a good thing.

Melt was hurt by Asuna’s telling him how she really felt. But in the end, they both realize it’s necessary to be truthful with one another. And also it isn’t always easy to do.

Tyramigo and DimeVolcano telling each other their true feelings was very fun and cute. And it was a good balance to the rest of the episode.

But back to PM Karino, she may not have gone through with wanting to kill herself. But she still ran away so I will assume this is definitely not a closed case just yet. She’s just thrown Japan in chaos, of course. lol

I totally forgot the previews for this episode and was surprised she was a member of the Ryusoul tribe. So very interesting for her and Bamba to know each other. But how does she know Gaisorg? And where is going now that she’s run away from her responsibilities. I think we’ll be seeing more of her.

Elsewhere, I always think it’s crazy when the MOTW just randomly levels buildings. Like, how many people must have logically died in those buildings?! So insane to point at those details in this KIDS show! lol

Anyway, overall I really enjoyed this episode. A really well written and well executed episode that hit all the right notes. Definitely a first for Ryusoulger. And I hope it continues.

  1. For me, it was very important episode. Just like Melt, I too take much things personally and that makes me cry. But later, I can learn even more after all! And I’m glad Tyramigo and DimeVolcano reconciled🙂I was touched when I saw PM Karino with her dying love one and earlier, how she told something clever to Gaisorg🙂
And the most intriguing thing, who can be Towa and Bamba’s Master?🤔
