VERONICA MARS, SEASON 2
By LJDB
Logan was at the door… but Veronica didn’t seem too happy to see him. Why she got back together with that jerk is really not important now.
What’s important is that Veronica Mars is back. One of last season’s best (and most underappreciated) new shows begins again as the Nancy Drew of the 21st century goes back to solving mysteries.
This time around, there seem to be two mysteries. First, what happened to jackass Logan the night he was drunk and seemingly stabbed one of Weevil’s cohorts. Second, what happened to the school bus that plunged into the Pacific Ocean.
And maybe the most mysterious of the mysteries, what did Duncan’s fortune cookie say to Veronica?
The shocking ending capped an already amazing episode, though it did have its faults. Charisma Carpenter (I think she was on “Charmed?”) being used as a “Stacy’s Mom” character is pretty pointless, and smells like a CBS/UPN-forced addition to the show to boost ratings… umm, okay.
The use of flashbacks return, and in an effective way, but after a while (a whole season really) they seem too cliche and old.
Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni deliver knockout performances as usual, and Percy Daggs III provides the comic relief. I will reserve judgement on the new characters.
As for the bus, many people are saying that Logan actually had something to do with the bus crash. After all he did say “I’ll miss you Veronica” as his last words to her.
A great start to a new season. Hopefully, Veronica Mars can get the break it deserves.
