Another season of Super Sentai has come and gone and another one is days away from premiering. A few years ago, I started to rank the seasons of both Kamen Rider and Super Sentai I have watched so far. And wow! I’ve now watched 16 seasons of Sentai. And it’s been almost 16 years since I watched my first one in Shinkenger!
Deliverers in every sense of the word. The Boonboomgers were deliverers in the heroic sense, saving and rescuing those in danger and helping people in need. The Boonboomgers also made literal deliveries, whether special moments for schoolkids or curry lessons to a friend or even sketchy government secret missions.
But the Boonboomgers’ biggest and best delivery was probably being able to deliver to us, the fans and viewers, an excellent season this past year.
As Grantu declares himself Spindo’s shield, he summons Nejiretta to take on the Boonboomgers. They fight the soldiers as Grantu fires upon them as well. Sakito arrives to join them in the fight and Shashiro charges toward Grantu who warns him to not even try it.
Mira thinks the proposal to marry Spindo, who is responsible for BunBun’s death, is absolute nonsense. Genba explains that Spindo aims to use this marriage as a way to depict the Boonboomgers surrendering to the Hashiryan. Byundi adds that Mira will essentially be a hostage to keep them all in check.
Taiya recalls the night of BunBun’s crash landing on Earth. At the impact site, he had picked up a glowing ball. BunBun said it was not his, so Taiya wondered if it maybe had been buried in the ground and was unearthed from the impact of the crash.
A flashback to happier times, Taiya gives BunBun some hot cocoa, congratulating him on a job well done. Taiya asks what happens when someone like BunBun dies. BunBun says his body will turn to sand and his soul will go to his planet’s version of the afterlife. Taiya says that’s a very Earth way of thinking.
Overall, this was a wonderful movie and a perfect representative of what Boonboomger is all about.
As Taiya is speeding off somewhere, he flashes back to the Garage. Shirabe confirmed that Taiya’s fortune and licenses were now transferred to Lightning Tech, but strangely pending a final approval. Genba suggested that it is for Taiya to take the wheel. Sakito offered to come with, but Taiya said it is okay. He must go alone to deal with this.
The Boonboomgers are enjoying the New Year’s holiday. Jou begins them a nice seafood box from his grandfather in Hokkaido. BunBun is excited to whip something delicious up with the scallops.
As Spindo watches the Christmas festivities on Earth, Maimi explains all about the holiday and the intriguing figure known as Santa Claus. Spindo tells Grantu to bring Santa Claus to him.
