The Final Four teams prove this has been perhaps the most competitive group of Racers ever assembled as Penultimate Leg feels fill Leg 10. Teams Race to avoid the final Elimination of the season. And like many of this season’s Legs, every second counts. Especially on one of the most challenging memory tasks ever.

This is it! The Final Three teams who will Race to the Finish Line will be decided on this pre-Penultimate Leg. Though departing with the usual 10 minute gap between the two pairs, all four teams arrive at Oracle Park at essentially the same time. Teams get through the Road Block and leave Oracle Park within five minutes of each other.

Teams would face a big decision with the Checkpoint Drive twist. Taneo & Alas, Hidilyn & Julius and Wilma & Asiana decide to complete the Checkpoint Drive now, rather than later. Kaye & Paul Jake, recognizing they are in last place, take the gamble and decide to first drive to See’s Candies instead.

During the Checkpoint Drive, teams debate on whether or not to use their allotted Google Maps time for the task. Wilma & Asiana decide to map out their route before setting out on their drive, finding the most efficient route and eventually finishing the task in the shortest amount of time. Taneo & Alas, however, take it one checkpoint at a time and they complete the drive in more time than either Wilma & Asiana or Hidilyn & Julius. But they arrive at See’s Candies before them as their final checkpoint ended up being closer.

For the Detour, Taneo & Alas are the only team to choose Packin’ It and it turns out to be the faster task. They complete the Detour in the shortest amount of time, but teams again remain within minutes of each other. Kaye & Paul Jake are actually able to catch up to the teams in Tiburon.

The bike ride around Angel Island and figuring out the correct Stamps for the Passport of Memories prove to be a challenging task for all the teams. All four teams make several attempts for checks. With each thumbs down, teams must either retrace their bike path or start the route over again in order to collect the correct Stamps from each checkpoint. The confusion and frustration get to the teams as they get lost along the island’s many paths.

It’s those precious seconds that end up determining the Leg and the Final Three as Taneo & Alas step on the Mat in last place, just 15 minutes after first place team Kaye & Paul Jake. And with that, one of the highest average placing teams in Amazing Race history are eliminated and miss out on the chance to Race to the Finish Line.
