Teams will have to figure out somehow that the clue directs teams to the HSBC Rain Vortex in Jewel Changi Airport, the nature-themed entertainment and retail complex at Changi Airport. The next Route Marker location will be projected onto the waterfall.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Teams will need to figure out the projection is of the Supertree grove at Gardens by the Bay. And here, teams will find the Road Block: Who can get lit?

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

For this Road Block, teams will rappel down from one of the supertrees and replace the burned out LED lights on their way down. If teams can catch all the burned out LED lights, they will receive the next clue. If not, teams will have to rappel again.

Their next clue immediately reveals the Detour: Food or Fashion.

Orchard Road is Singapore’s hub of shopping and fashion. In Fashion, teams must make their way to ION Orchard Mall where they must correctly dress five fashion models who are missing articles of clothing and accessories which teams can find somewhere in the sprawling mall.

Their maze must be assembled over the countries visited in the order that they were visited on this Race. There is only one correctl assembly of the maze walls. Once they can walk through the maze, crossing over the countries in the correct order, teams will receive their next clue.

“Director’s” Commentary

A very nice Penultimate Leg I think! Lots of big challenges, fitting for the Penultimate Leg! And it’s a Night Leg! Yay!

So some of this Leg is inspired by Crazy Rich Asians. The food porn scene from the movie especially inspired the Food side of the Detour. The other side of the Detour basically touches on Singapore’s Orchard Road shopping belt while ION Orchard Mall will look awesome at night.

First up though is the simple Route Marker at Changi Airport. I think we could even have another task at the airport which really would be an amazing location.

The Road Block at Gardens by the Bay has been in the TARPHDME bank since the first Singapore visit on Season 1! And yes, it was also a Penultimate Leg lol But this one is a Night Leg for a change and really much different from the basic days of TARPHDME hehe

The second Road Block could be one that will really challenge and frustrate teams. That is the hope, of course. And especially when one team member MUST do the Road Block. We would like to see teams struggling with this task. Especially as well, this being the Penultimate Leg.

The maze task at the stadium should also be very interesting. The idea behind this task is basically a big puzzle task. So whatever the actual implementation and staging of the task would be on a real TAR, we need to have teams figuring out a set puzzle with a little memory task thrown in.

Finally, I liked the idea of TARA5’s floating Pit Stop. But that would be too cruel on the Penultimate Leg. I wanted a Marina Bay Pit Stop, but not at the Marina Bay Sands. Though it would certainly be a nice location on the rooftop.

I decided on an extra task which may or may not be actually feasible or even safe at night. But this is TARPHDME and anything goes. Hehe. I think the kayaking to the boat and then to the Pit Stop should be a nice frustrating and physical way to end this Leg. And the Samsung phone is just for teams to figure out how to get to The Float stage while in the dark.

At the same time, teams arriving at the Mat at sunrise would be wonderfully stunning! (And with 8K UHD drone shots too!) So we could tweak the Leg to allow for teams to be Racing all night up to the sun rising in the morning.

Overall, I think this can be an amazing and exciting Penultimate Leg!
