The end of Tahanang Pinakamasaya brought out some of the most vivid examples of Filipinos’ nasty habit of schadenfreude. Why toxic Network War Culture is mostly to blame.
#NetworkWarCulture. That’s what.
Time to vent! And apparently celebrate because #NetworkWarCulture is alive and well in the Philippines! Wowowowin!
Last week, I ranted about Philippine entertainment’s seeming regression back towards a duopoly instead of an expansion of potential options. I talked about how the present trajectory of Philippine entertainment, particularly television, was contrary to what the “ideal” scenario would be. But what exactly does an “ideal” scenario entail?

The third week of ABS-CBN’s Princess and I was odd. For three weeks everyone’s been pointing and laughing at the strangely hilarious and completely unnecessary Filipino-dubbing of the series.
What a crazy ride ABS-CBN’s Maria la del Barrio has had; from its months-delayed premiere to its excellent start to that regrettable middle patch to its eventual kidnapping (orly?) and lovefest ending. A show that ended up being filled with missed opportunities, near-fatal missteps, and questionable network influence, but carried by a strong performance from the should-be title character.
