So the GMA version ended up having an entire episode’s worth of new content to wrap itself up, essentially adding an alternate ending to what the Viu version had offered. I don’t know that it really added anything to the experience, even if it added just a tiny bit to the overall story.
We’re almost ready to wrap up our time with Slay. And after this chunk of GMA episodes, I’m kinda glad. The TV-exclusive plot thread is not shaping out the way I expected it would.
Now that Slay has wrapped up its run on Viu, it will be very interesting now to watch the rest of the GMA linear TV version of the series. Apparently it will have a different ending. (Which is a bit obvious considering the TV-exclusive storylines and stuff.) But while I’ve thought the broadcast TV version of the series was a bit more polished and better paced than the streaming version, I don’t know how a new ending might improve on what was already a satisfying conclusion.
Okay! Slay saved its best for last! The last four episodes of the Viu version of the series was a roller coaster of drama, emotion, shock, and awe. And it was probably some of the most satisfying final episodes of a teleserye I’ve seen in a loooong time!
So after last week’s big changes, this week not so much.
Well then! This penultimate week (I think?) of the Viu version of the GMA/Viu co-production Slay was very eventful! One mystery solved and a longtime comeuppance finally arriving. And a huge revelation that seems to take us into the final week of this series.
I don’t know, but this might be my favorite week of Slay episodes yet! Though now, I really do prefer the GMA TV broadcast episodes over the Viu version as I feel the pacing is better and it includes deleted storylines. (Which I still don’t understand why.)
So streaming-to-TV comparison for Slay this week first since Viu delayed the release of their episodes this week for some reason. And it was a pretty eventful GMA week for the series with a lot of new and possibly consequential material!
I forgot about Holy Week, so there’s only three GMA episodes of Slay this week. That certainly puts the TV version of the show even further back than the Viu versions. But let’s see.
Thank goodness this week exists! Definitely a step up over the last week or two for the Viu versions of Slay. While this week diined the Slaydies with their little revenge plots against Zach, including the legitimately awesome final reveal of the week, it’s still up in the air who’s the real killer. But as that will of course be saved for the final week, this week’s episodes had all the fun stuff that gets us through the weeks until then!
