Episode Thoughts

What an interesting episode! Kind of a mellow episode. A more subdued episode. But I love it! I really like the way it was really a more character-focused, dramatic kind of episode. It very much worked for pretty much every single main character that appeared on this episode.

And now that I write this, I realize, No Jarudaks! No wonder I loved this episode! lololol

I think we all knew Hanty would be able to break out of the hypnosis. But that inner struggle between his light and dark side was a great way to remind us of all the sh!t he’s been throuh. And that’s all at the hands of the Stomachs, let us also not forget.

It also solidified how much he cares about his two bros. Though it would’ve been just as easy if the angel Hanto reminded him that he had feelings for Shoma or something. That might have snapped him out of his hypnosis faster lolol

With Rakia, there were two moments for him. First, Sachika seeing him in his Granute form and injecting the people with his toxin. I hope it leads to a nice convo between them about Rakia’s past. And then we get some cute romantic moments (open to interpretation) for us hopeless romantics and shippers out there. Lololol We demand crumbs! lolol

And then him finishing off Suga was kind of like another way to show the strong bond of the three of them. Rakia was definitely not a fan of Suga, partly because of his part in Shoma and Hanto’s troubles. So finishing him off for his bros was a nice moment. Especially since I guess Hanto already had his turn.

An unceremonious end for Suga’s big return though. Unless Nyelv saves his body again. They could do either way.

For Nyelv, I wanted to see a bit more interaction between him and Shoma. Maybe that’s saved for the endgame. Especially after Nyelv remarked about something like all roads lead back to AkaGavv.

But Shoma reiterating that humans and Granutes are not play things for experiments was good. Nyelv getting hypnotized people to almost kill themselves in the ocean was obviously to lure out Shoma as well as provide him more data on whatever he’s ultimately planning. It also gives me hope that he does have something big planned and makes more signs point in his direction as the final or at least penultimate boss, since Lango is lurking about until he’s ready to pounce I guess.

The moment with Sachika was fun, but also good for the plot as well. Kind of bringing all the pieces together. Which is something that Gavv has done very well.

And finally, wonderful build up to Hanto finally telling Shoma about his Uncle.
I think that scene played out so well. The way Hanto didn’t want to waste any more time knowing that it’s probably going to get more dangerous in the coming episodes… I mean, days. Lol But also to add to what will weigh on Shoma moving toward the endgame as well. I think we can assume that the endgame will be heavily influenced by the family aspect of Shoma and the Stomachs. So Shoma knowing about his uncle obviously will lead into learning potentially why Mama Michiru was the chosen one for Papa Bouche in the first place.

So with confirmation that Gavv will be 50 episodes, that means we only have eight left! Exactly two months! Ahh! I think it’s really time to buckle down and hang on for the ride!

Also, hope next week is the last we’ll see of the Jarudaks lololl

  1. If this really is all the wanted to do with Suga’s return, and all they are going to use him for, they might as well have just saved the effort and made it (yet another) granute of the arc. Would have actually carried more impact.

    1. Shintaro Asanuma has gotten his flowers, so yeah, that’s pretty bang on. I guess they just kinda forgot about the Project K baby. Was it in the clone room Lakia blew up? If so, that’s pretty damn dark. Glotta and Suga were both done dirty in my opinion, especially since they’re likely the most popular villains this season. Nyelv, the Jaldaks, and Jiip (probably in that order) should have gone first before them. My ideal “lineup” for the last 3 episodes would have been: Lakia vs. Glotta, Hanto vs. Suga, and Shoma vs. Lango.
Even though production was months ahead, you’re not gonna convince me there were no issues, and I look forward to hearing about them once the season’s concluded. Things would have been so much better if Magen had never existed and Suga had returned like this as the cliffhanger of 32 going into 33 as the experiment that gets Nyelv his cushy job under the President. This should have been the set of episodes where Suga regained his memories and, taking a page out of Brajira from Goseiger’s book, started secretly orchestrating Nyelv’s downfall and only revealing his ruse at the last minute.

  2. I’m at a loss for words. “Wasted potential” is an understatement to describe Suga’s character, and they should’ve just left him dead. He was ten times more interesting, fun, and sympathetic than Jiip and Nyelv. This is honestly second-half-of-Revice level of shenanigans. Then again, Bitter Gavv in general has been such a curse on this season that symbolizes Komura’s lackluster villain writing. There was such hype and speculation for Bitter Gavv among fans before he debuted. I myself
remember being disappointed that it was just a bunch of brainless clones instead of a second Granute-Human hybrid with a traumatic past like Shoma who’d challenge his ideals, a role I thought Suga was gonna fill.
Frankly, the villain writing peaked in the first arc. The Twins spent most of it hunting down Shoma and supervising the Part-Timers, the other Stomachs got some good time to establish their characters, and Suga was lurking in the background with us being unsure of his ambition and even what he really was. Plus, we got an extended flashback showing how the Twins hated Shoma because they were jealous of him. The second arc had Jiip disappearing for the entire time, the other Stomachs disappearing right when those underwhelming clones started appearing, and Suga only getting a picture and a quick silent flashback before he dies. And the third arc… the Jaldaks may be perhaps the worst villain group in the Reiwa era, not least of all because they replaced Suga. They should not have outlived any of the remaining Stomachs. Glotta didn’t even get an original flashback of her own that featured that abusive prick Bouche. Such a waste to not expand on how he was the one who made the Stomachs the monsters they are now and show how wrong Dente was for inexplicably defending that piece of trash in the first place.
And honestly, I now dislike Nyelv the way you did Glotta, not in a “love-to-hate” way but more in a “get off my screen” way. For different reasons though. He’s hogged all the screen time and focus from his other siblings except Jiip. He ruined my fave Suga and randomly threw his only humanizing trait of seeming to legitimately think of Suga as a friend for his intelligence in the trash. The events he’s responsible for have meant nothing in terms of potentially interesting interactions he could’ve had with Lakia and his other siblings. He made Lakia Vram in the first place, so you’d think he’d be his destined nemesis. His first moment of fear being when he learned Lakia’s real motive should’ve been the indicator that he killed Comel instead of randomly making it Glotta, who would’ve fit far more as Shoma’s nemesis since she crushed his mother with her bare hand. Jiip never learned that Nyelv just stood there and left the Twins to die, so he got away with that. Lango and Glotta never learned that Nyelv created Vram. And they never learned that he had a human colleague whom he chatted science with, which probably would’ve made Lango’s head explode with shock and left him only able to point at Nyelv and shout “Fired! Fired! Fired! Fired!”

    1. Your concerns about Nyelv lead more credence to the idea that he is the final boss, actually. hehe I definitely think there’s still a big bombshell waiting to be dropped with regards to him. And that probably plays into the endgame, including relating to Papa Bouche and his reasons for taking Shoma’s mother. We shall see.

  3. I would be much happier if shouma kissed hanto to snap him out of hypnosis like romantic movies lol🤭

    1. Shoma kisses Hanto early in the episode to get him to snap out of it. So happy romantic moment. Then at the end, Shoma is shocked that Hanto went digging into his past and his family lol Very romantic drama type of story! Hehe
