Some great new music from Younghoon, Jayn Lee, Catch the Young, NouerA, Wonho!
“Lovestruck” by Younghoon
Younghoon of ORβIT and formerly of HALO has released a new solo single album and title track of the same name, “Lovestruck” and it is amazing! This mellow track with its bittersweet lyrics is such a mood and Younghoon’s vocals perfectly capture that sort of breezy, fleeting feeling of its message. Such a great song and performance. And the other two tracks on the album flow perfectly out of it as well. That includes the second track “KOMOREBI”, a duet with fellow ORβIT and HALO member Yoondong and composed by fellow HALO member Jaeyong! A great release!
“2/2” by Jayn Lee
Jayn Lee is back with a fresh single and I think this might be my favorite solo release from him so far! This sweet, upbeat pop track has a bright and refreshing vibe. Very much a summer song and the music video perfectly captures that romantic and nostalgic vibe. It’s a song that is immediately appealing. But I think even more so after a couple more listens! Great song!
“Ideal Type” by Catch the Young
Catch the Young releases another great track in “Ideal Type”. The bright performance mixes synth-infused pop and classic rock for a fun and youthful package. Very much representative of the band’s easily likable sound and style. Hoping they can release an album soon!
“n (number of cases)” by NouerA
I enjoyed NouerA’s debut earlier this year and their song “N.I.N (New is Now)” almost made my Top 25 list. They pick up right where they left off with their first comeback title track “n (number of cases)”. This “lo-fi hip-hop” track evokes the same great energetic performance and dynamic sound of their debut. The other five tracks on the album of the same name are great too. The track that catches my ear though is the closer “BNB (Beauty and the Beast)”.
“Better Than Me” by Wonho
Wonho returns with English-language single “Better Than Me” ahead of a full album release later this year. The retro (and by retro, I mean 2000s!) infused pop dance track is definitely reminiscent of the most addictive boy band songs of the time. But Wonho gives it a contemporary touch. And of course the music video gives him the opportunity to deliver another sultry performance too. Should be interesting to see how the rest of his album will turn out! Can’t wait!
