Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 41 Recap Review

At the presidential palace, Nyelv breaks the news to the married couple that Glotta is dead. Jiip is shocked. Liseru is sad she didn’t get to know her better. Nyelv said it was inevitable considering Lango-niisan was defeated by them too.

President Bocca comes in to tell them he would like to take over Earth and turn it into a ranch with humans as livestock. That way they can more quickly produce Dark Treats since injecting humans with joy and kidnapping them one by one is too tedious.

Nyelv says that would be too difficult, especially when the Granute Hunters are still out and about. President Bocca has something wheeled in and asks if Nyelv can do something with it. Bocca pulls the covers off and Nyelv is shocked.

Back at Hapipare, Sachika tells Shoma she too saw people acting weird doing repetitive things.

Meanwhile, Hanto continues his Inoue search. He knocks on the door of an apartment, but no one answers. A neighbor suggests he look for Mr. Inoue at his shop.

Elsewhere, Rakia talks to Gochizos while looking for tasty rocks. He asks them if they think it’s odd that they haven’t come across any part timers lately. Though it might be expected considering both Lango and Glotta are gone. He thinks it would be too optimistic to think the new CEO would stop producing Dark Treats.

Just then, a fisherman nearby starts biting at a rock. Rakia goes over to stop him.

Shoma comes across them and notices the hooded figure watching nearby before it leaves. Shoma hurries over to Rakia. After confirming the fisherman is not a Granute, they call Sachika and they bring the man to the hospital.

Turns out the hooded figure shoots people and gets them to follow simple commands. With such a power, Nyelv is surprised President Bocca is more dangerous than he expected.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 41 Recap Review

Nyelv flashes back to earlier when President Bocca revealed the corpse of a Granute who possessed the unique ability akin to hypnosis that he hoped he could exploit one day. That day is today.

Bocca suggests they bring humans under their control using this power and more quickly produce Dark Treats.

Nyelv later takes the corpse and laments the Granute for having attempted to take Bocca’s seat. Only to be killed and exploited even after death.

Back in Tokyo, Sachika scours Twitter for more sightings of strange behaviors and sees people have also noticed the hooded figure. Shoma and Rakia head out to search the area where the sightings have been concentrated.

Masaru is desperate to learn of any news regarding her, but Hanto apologizes and says he has just been searching for more information about that name as well.

Masaru shows Hanto a photo of his sister who had left for university classes one day and never came home. He can’t think of a reason she would want to run away. And she had even made plans for a desert date with friends the next day. She loved all kinds of snacks and even joined a snacks club in college.

Hanto believes this Inoue Michiru is the closest resemblance to Shoma’s mother. He takes a photo of Masaru’s picture.

Shoma calls Hanto to tell him what’s going on. Hanto excuses himself and promises to let Masaru know if finds more information. Hanto asks if Masaru ever told Shoma about his sisters, but he says he has never told anyone.

As he runs over, Hanto wonders if he should tell Shoma about this. But he remembers Shoma asking him to hold off for now about searching for his family. Hanto thinks since Shoma is already friends with Masaru, he should keep this discovery to himself for now.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 41 Recap Review

Over at the mansion, Jiip is breaking down, blaming himself for his siblings’ deaths and the hastening of their family’s downfall. He wants to be in his sister’s body, but he thinks it is disgusting to put the Mimic Key into the revolting black gavv on his body. Lizel thinks it’s quite cute.

Jiip asks if he’s doing the right thing. He just wanted to avenge Siita and get back at Lango-niisan a little. But now Lango and Glotta are dead because of him and his gavv has been mutilated into something horrific. He is scared.

Lizelle says everything will be okay because he still has her. She believes Lango and Glotta got what was coming to them and he should not blame himself.

Suga!

Hanto can’t believe Suga is up to this nonsense again. But Nyelv pops in and says there’s nothing going on in Suga’s head at the moment. Nyelv slaps Hanto’s face and he goes flying toward Shoma and Rakia.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 41 Recap Review

Nyelv says this is not the Suga-san he once knew. This is just his puppet. Nyelv reveals the modified gavv on Suga’s stomach. He explains that he picked Suga up after they defeated him and kept his body alive until he could use him somehow. That’s why when he was presented with an interesting corpse, Nyelv decided to do an experiment. Suga’s body died out on him while attaching the black gavv on, but it worked out since it turned Suga into an obedient zombie.

And since Suga was all about making the ultimate life form, this works out well for him too.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 41 Recap Review

Shoma realizes this is all just a way to control humans and asks what is next. “What’s next indeed?” Nyelv replies. Shoma tells Nyelv that humans are not toys to be played with and he, Hanto and Rakia henshin to their top forms.

Nyelv inserts a Marble Breacookie Gochizo into Suga’s stomach mouth and he henshins to Breacookie. They battle.

Hanto tries charging at Nyelv, who stands firm. But Suga shoots Hanto out of the way, showing them how much stronger he is.

Nyelv helps Suga grab Hanto and toss him over the side of the building. Suga shoots Hanto and tries to hypnotize him into making Gavv and Vram his enemies and to destroy them.

Shoma swoops in to take on Nyelv who licks his thumb and touches it to the floor to unleash a poison swamp. He is glad it still affects Shoma despite his current strength. This is all his ability amounts to, Nyelv says, unlike their older brother’s.

Episode Thoughts

Very nice! Definitely setting the stage for next week which I will assume, after being able to kinda sorta wrap up Rakia’s main story last week, will focus on Hanto and potentially wrapping up another of his main stories as well. Especially with the return of Suga.

Before we get to that, let’s first talk about the first half of the episode where we essentially confirm Shoma’s shop owner friend is his uncle. (Lots of uncles and great uncles on this season! Lolol)

I think what’s interesting here is that it sets up learning more about how Mama Michiru was taken to the Granute world and eventually become the new Mrs. Stomach. She was a college student who was kidnapped and impregnated? WTF?! Lol

But seriously, upon learning about the start of the “marriage”, whatever that looked like, we could possibly learn more about the original Mrs. Stomach or even Grandpa Stomach. And maybe why they needed a bi-racial child in Shoma. And potentially lead in to the true endgame and the big reveal of who our Big Bad Final Boss will finally be.

I suppose with the idea of experimentation and modifications and stuff like that, maybe Mama Michiru was artificially inseminated or something to get her pregnant with Shoma. Again, for whatever nefarious or not reason by whoever the Final Boss might be. What goal would having a Shoma be and why would he be protected like that, even if in an oppressive way toward him and his mother? We shall see! I highly doubt Papa Bouche fell in love with Mama Michiru. Lol Though you never know!

Next up, I would rather not have so many Jiip/Liszelru scenes. But why they made that moment of her brushing his stomach mouth look gross and weird. Ewe lol They knew what they were doing with that scene. Lol First, Jiip enjoying being in his sister’s body. And now innuendo with the toxic married couple. Strange! lol

I’m starting to think now Jiip will be the last non-human Stomach standing. Which is kind of annoying. I feel like he will have one last battle with Shoma since it’s all about him avenging his twinnie. But maybe it’ll be around 46 or 47. I dunno. I’m just guessing lol I have no clue about what they want to do with Jiip. Let alone Rizelle. lol

It’s interesting, I would rather President Bocca outsmart his own daughter rather than her outsmarting him. Like, I think he humors her more than spoils her. Which means if needed, he would allow her demise if it got in the way or something or if she deserved it through her own actions.

I think maybe the Jarudaks should get finished off by Lango more than any of the G-Hunters. That would be better story. And then Lango can have one last gasp to regain his drug empire before getting finished off for good.

Speaking of, when Bocca wheeled out the dead Granute and they revealed its lower body and Nyelv was all shocked, I tried to think if I was supposed to know who the Granute was. I absolutely had no idea. So I Googled “white furry Granute” and came up with a random Granute from Episode 2 who had the same legs. Lol I knew that couldn’t be it.

I thought it was Magen when Nyelv mentioned something about trying to take Bocca’s seat or whatever. But Magen wore pants. So turns out the show probably just re-used the costume/suit. Lol

Anyway, another interesting thing is how Nyelv really had zero plans for Suga. The assumption was Nyelv took Suga’s body and kept it safe or would continue working on him. But if Bocca had not given Nyelv the spare Granute body, then Suga would’ve just stayed frozen until who knows when.

That’s very interesting! It also means Nyelv probably hasn’t continued working on whatever Suga was working on. Since another reasonable assumption would be Nyelv taking Suga’s work on his daughter/”K”/ultimate lifeform and then using that to resurrect him. Even if just as an initial experiment before ultimately Nyelv taking the ultimate lifeform for himself or whatever.

But no, we have zombie Suga. For now. He could somehow be resurrected of course.

Again, since next week seems to be a Hanto-focus what with his angel and demon conscience scene apparently (lol), it would be fitting for Hanto to again get his revenge against Suga since he didn’t finish the job last time. And also since, again, Rakia was able to do so with Glotta last week.

That said, I guess we’re very close to finally seeing Nyelv’s full form. Him playing with the snake at the beginning seems like very obvious foreshadowing lol

And then introducing his ability with the poison goop and that seeming hint of resentment toward Lango with how his ability/power compared to his? “Bitter” he said about that point. Maybe he’s bitter about his position in the family?

Will be interesting to see if after this “Glasses Creeping Closer” episode, we will finally learn about Nyelv’s endgame. Perhaps it will be the focus of 43 and 44. At which point we learn about his growing up within the family, his seemingly relaxed attitude or indifference toward the family business, his joy of science and experimentation, and perhaps his real feelings toward his youngest brother. Maybe he picks up where Papa Bouche, or whoever initially had plans for Shoma, left off.

Who freaking knows? I certainly don’t. lol And that makes these final two months even more exciting! TWO MONTHS LEFT! Oh no! It’s been a great season. But knowing that, I fully expect a very exciting final stretch of episodes coming up!

  1. Gods, this season is doing a better job of being about family of all kinds than Revice was.

Also with Bocca’s declared goal I think the end game for the heroes might end up being taking over the Granute world. Definitely at least Shouma taking over Stomach Inc. or whatever.

  2. Well, that’s two straight episodes where they’ve made underwhelming choices with arguably the season’s most popular villains. I can’t believe they brought Suga back without any of the traits that made him fun and interesting. I never liked that the Jaldaks appeared out of nowhere to replace him; they were never gonna measure up to a mere human who posed a capable threat in a season full of super-strong aliens. The villain side of things has taken a downturn since Suga’s first defeat. Thankfully, it’s not on the same scale of what happened to Revice when it lost Olteca but still.
I wouldn’t even have been against Suga being back without his memories… if it had happened in episode 33 instead of making some random Granute the second Bitter Gavv. That should’ve been Suga throwing Hanto around like a sack of potatoes without needing to transform, handing Lakia his first definitive L, and necessitating Over Gavv’s debut. Heck, they could’ve killed two birds with one stone and used it to emphasize Glotta’s hidden loneliness more. Have the now-servile Suga assigned to helping Lango and Glotta collect presses for the 10 million treats. After Lango’s supposed demise, Glotta takes a liking to Suga for his loyalty to her and remaining at her side in her time of need. Instead of abruptly killing Glotta once Lakia got his Final Form, have Suga recover her and help her heal up. In gratitude, Glotta helps Suga get his memories back and restores him to his normal self. Suga’s first order of business is to secretly orchestrate Nyelv’s downfall and deal the final blow to him as revenge for turning him into a mindless puppet all Brajira-from-Goseiger style. Heh heh. That guy came up with one hell of a plan to dispose of the villain who wiped his memories while basically having a bomb strapped to him. He was the best part of that Sentai season for a reason!

    1. Yes, I was surprised this was how they bring back Suga. It’s too bad. Though maybe the actor was not available for all that? I know that can affect how characters end up getting used on both Toei tokus sometimes. I dunno.

We’ll see how the next ~9 episodes shape out and if there will be surprises yet to come.

      1. Yeah, it feels like this could have all been neatly fixed if new Suga was Nyelv’s experiment that got him his cushy job under Bocca instead of modifying Magen. It does make me wonder if Shintaro Asanuma was unavailable at certain points in production. Also, what do hypnosis powers have to do with the ultimate life form Suga wanted? Feels random. Fitting with Suga’s desire for immortality, it would’ve made more sense for him to have an ability like Phoenix from Wizard, where whatever kills him makes him stronger. Y’know, where even after getting blown up, his bones snap back into place and he’s back on his feet immune to whatever finisher took him down just then.

  3. Suga went from Frankenstein to Frankenstein’s monster… But Nylev should know the creature eventually turned against its creator…

    1. At this point, it’s unfortunately a high possibility that Suga dies again next episode and only regains his memories at the last second while Nyelv somehow slithers away from being killed at the hands of all those Final Forms. That’d be a terrible choice for the villain side of things this season,… so they’re probably gonna do it.

    2. Oh! That’s an interesting angle! It is very possible. But at the same time, I think they have something bigger planned for Nyelv than just getting a comeuppance by a character that’s randomly returned.
