Episode Thoughts

That four second scene of Glotta murdering Comeru was horrifying. His scream! My God. My jaw dropped. That has to be the most horrific four seconds I’ve seen on a Toei toku in a long time!

I wanted to reach into the TV and pummel Glotta myself. She was already on thin ice with me, especially after last week. Pardon my French, but fuck her. What a contemptible character. I don’t care how hot the actress is or how badass she can be. Glotta is just pure evil trash. Like, not even in a fun way. I don’t pity the character at all. Like, zero positive feelings at all at this point.

There have been a few times they’ve shown she cares for her family. Most times though she comes across as indifferent and focused on the business. Maybe even more than Lango. So I would’ve liked them to have perhaps shown a bit more glimpses of her “lonely” side if they were going to go this route at this point.

Nyelv basically said she’s always been like this. Probably her foolish pride getting in the way of her deep down empathy.

But regardless, Glotta is just a vile person. Ick. Not only a murderer, but a hateful bigot. Not only has she killed some of the most major of characters, she is also disgusted by her half-brother because he is mixed race.

And that is fine. (lol) Having someone to hate in a superhero story is good. And it will make next week hopefully very satisfying.

I am going to be standing and cheering when Rakia ends her ass next week with a la mode mode. Drown her in pudding Rakian!

*takes a deep breath*

Okay. Lol

So rewinding a little, I might have been caught a bit off guard I guess because this episode had the typical Toei toku setup. Fun, amusing start to the episode to lull you into a false sense of security for the heavy stuff at the end. Usually I can spot it and prepare myself appropriately. But not today! It worked on me today lol

I should’ve known them planning a nice a la mode party for Uncle Dente was a red flag of what was to come lol

Like, when they found Uncle Dente on the ground again, I wasn’t even worried anymore. They wouldn’t kill him off randomly like that. I would’ve believed it more the other episode when it was a cliffhanger lol But obviously it would be one last fake out before he actually gets murdered.

Now, Uncle Dente could be all well and good next week. But, honestly, that doesn’t change me wanting Rakian to hold Glotta head down in a vat of caramel until she downs. lol

Anyway, the scene of Rakia in the housewares shop judging the platters on how edible they were was hilarious. And it was a perfect scene to follow the sad and heartwarming moment with Sachika before it.

Elsewhere, Liselle treating Jiip like a pet is gross. But he brought it on himself so I have no sympathy lol And looking back now, I’m not as annoyed by Liselle today if only because she was able to push Glotta’s buttons. Though maybe I should be more upset with Liselle because she basically helped trigger Glotta’s madness today lol But of course it’s still all Glotta’s fault in the end. She’s got plenty to pay for.

Overall, a great episode. Obviously heavy and dramatic and consequential. But when you can get riled up like this, then you know it’s good and affecting story. And Gavv has been that.

  1. I’ve kind of been waiting for this kind of development for Glotta since… episode 14?15? whenever Sitta bit the bullet. Because at that point the twins really did feel like a pair who were being bullied into helping do things they knew were questionable, and if they weren’t going to do a turn on them, they weren’t on the rest of the family.
Also I’m kind of glad that Dente is actually dead this time, if only because they’ve faked it out so freaking much.

  2. Well, for Glotta, it’s just more blood on her hand, but anyway, from episode 04, since she crushed Shoma’s mom’s Press with her own hands, she was doomed and should pay it with her life. About Dente, although we were fooled by the trailed that let think the Agents would arrest it, I had known for a long time he would be killed off sooner or later… And he was doomed by his idealism… At least, if it can learn children who watch Kamen Rider Gavv that some people are rotten to the core and beyond redemption.

Well, somehow, Glotta is the anti-Yodonna: whereas Yodonna was just misunderstood, wanted to be loved and never had blood on their hands (on the contrary, it’s the Kiramagers who had hers on theirs, but whatever), Glotta was just evil as Hell, with a lot of blood on their hands (her actress may be cute, but even the most beautiful roses have thorns).

    1. I think Yodonna had A LOT of blood on her hands, being one of Yodon’s split personalities and all. It was just all offscreen. Plus, I think they’re indicating Glotta has the same deep-seated “desire to be loved” coming from being raised in a cruel family prioritizing work 24/7 instead of bonding with each other. Of course, they had her reject Dente’s offer of redemption and double down on cruelty, and I honestly respect the season for making such a choice.

      1. Well, officially, in the Kiramager series, we never saw Yodonna kill anybody. In the worst, she was responsible of the demise of some powered-up Bechas, but nobody cares about them. On the contrary, the Kiramagers killed her not once, but twice: undirectly (due to Tametomo’s strategy) and symbolically by litteraly ignoring her demise as she had less importance than any monster of the week (but at least, Tametomo paid it in Yodonna 3, although it wasn’t much of a punishment).

  3. And by the way…
“Not only has she killed some of the most major of characters, she is also disgusted by her half-brother because he is mixed race.” : somehow, she’s the Bellatrix Lestrange of Kamen Rider Gavv, if you can say so…

  4. Why do the beautiful villains have to be so crazy? 😂🤣😄 In my opinion, Glotta’s in the same “ballpark” as Suga: perhaps sympathetic to a degree while being completely vicious and nuts. They even have the same tendency of forgetting how many people they’ve killed! I still think it’s a bit too soon to off her and give the lovely Machi Chitose flowers, especially when Siita and Lango’s actors have gotten nothing. What, Jiip gets to stick around but she doesn’t? That’s not even getting into Lango’s ambiguous fate, which I wonder if next episode will touch on as a lead-up to the endgame. And there’s also the high likelihood of Suga returning for one last bout with his “old friends.” (Those last two things may be related if Nyelv decides to kill two birds with one stone and make a new Bitter Gavv significantly stronger than weak little Jiip….)
Credit where credit is due though, I did not expect them to double down on Glotta’s viciousness and irredeemability, especially since she’s always been a fan favorite. They even had her kill another fan favorite!

      1. Oh yeah, she acted more like a real big sister to Shoma in that one. I honestly just want Glotta to survive into the final arc alongside the remaining Stomachs (likely including a not completely dead Lango), especially if Suga, who was clearly mortally wounded, is indeed making a grand return after this. It wouldn’t “devalue” Lakia’s new form debut just as Suga returning wouldn’t “devalue” Hanto’s Frappe Custom debut.

  5. omg yeah! How heartbreaking seeing Comeru scream like that as Grotta murders him.

Definitely no sympathy for her! Or any of the Stomachs, tbh. Hey, I crush on Ryo Takizawa too. But if Nyelv turns out the most evil of evil, then I’ll hate him too lol

Gavv not holding back though, which is great.
