Introducing the 12 teams unknowingly Racing as “Group A” on The Amazing Race Philippines: All Stars (DryedManogez Edition Season 25)!
First, the opening credits!
First-Time All-Stars
Ryan & Judy Ann Santos Agoncillo
Previous Finish: 2nd in Season 14
The married parents, actors and entrepreneurs have unfinished business having been the runners up on season 14 where a couple of missing coconuts ultimately cost them the win. Will they be able to get redemption on this All-Stars Race?
Paolo & Bubbles Paraiso
Previous Finish: 4th in Season 24
These actor and Army reservist siblings missed the Final Leg by just three minutes on season 24 after a strong Race with three Leg wins. Will they be able to reach that Final this time?
Martina & Phil Seo
Previous Finish: WINNERS in Season 20
These two heroic siblings from Canada won the second clash between Race All-Stars from the Philippines and the World. Will they be able to be the first ever two-win team in Amazing Race history?
Brylle “Taneo” Uyam & Joshua “Alas” Alvarez
Previous Finish: 4th in Season 22
After winning three Legs and never placing below 4th place all season, these P-pop best bros from ALAMAT just missed out on season 22’s Final Leg after a tricky Final Memory Task in San Francisco Bay. Will they be able to replicate their success on a longer Race?
MM & MJ Magno
Previous Finish: 2nd in Season 23
The wonder twins of season 23 won three Legs, but lost the Race crown by just five minutes. Will they be able to take care of unfinished business on this All-Star Race?
Wilma & Asiana Dassent
Previous Finish: 2nd in Season 21
After surprising everyone by running a very strong Race including winning a Leg, this fierce and fashionable mother and daughter duo were the runners-up on one the most thrilling and closest run to the Finish Line ever! Will they be able to get it done this time around?
Solenn Heussaff & Georgina Wilson
Previous Finish: 4th in Season 17
These besties went from their first win to last and eliminated in their last two Legs on season 17. With their strong Racing skills, will luck finally be on their side as well this time around?
All-Star Veterans
Iya & Drew Arellano
Previous Finishes: WINNERS in Season 15; 6th on Season 19: All-Stars
These married parents, actors and television hosts won their first run on Season 15, but finished 6th on their first All-Stars return. Will one of the Race’s most competitive teams be the first two-time winners ever?
Megan & Mikael Daez
Previous Finishes: 6th in Season 16; 3rd in Season 20: PH vs The World
They are back on the Race after becoming new parents. Though they placed 6th in their original season, they made waves and ruffled feathers in season 20 before finishing in 3rd place after struggling at the Final Memory Task. How will this competitive couple fare against All-Stars once again?
Jervi & Luke Wrightson
Previous Finishes: Jervi – 5th in REAL Season 1 with Saida; 2nd in Season 21 with Luke
Jervi Raced with amiga Saida in the original (real!) season one before returning to Race with now-husband Luke in season 21 where they ultimately finished 2nd. Will they be able to get to the top of the podium this time?
Shaun & Dave Ildefonso
Previous Finishes: 2nd in Season 17; 4th in Season 19 – All-Stars
These basketball bros are not only one of the most prolific teams to have Raced, they are also one of the most fun! Their 2nd and 4th place finishes proved their skills alongside their joker personalities. But how will they match up against the best of the best?
Danica & Ciara Sotto
Previous Finishes: 4th in Season 18; 2nd in Season 20 – Philippines vs The World
These strong cousins finished 4th in season 18 before coming back and just coming up short in season 20 where they, along with alliance mates Megan & Mikael, rubbed other teams the wrong way with their Racing style. Will that strategy pay off against other All-Stars?
“Casting Director’s” Commentary
So for casting this hypothetical All-Stars season, I only had back to TARPHDME14 to choose from since that’s the first time I actually did the fake opening credits and had teams attached to TARPHDME lolol
Conceivably, for a 25th Anniversary All-Star season, we would have teams from all the way back to season one. But that’s probably not possible since some seasons would surely have more than one All-Star-worthy team. Even with our two groups/parallel Race twist.
So, in choosing the TARPHDME All-Star cast, my criteria was basically which teams did very well and which teams do I think would be big personalities. And thankfully, many of the teams who finished higher, I think, would be big personalities for the Race.
The “Old Stars” vs “New Stars” deal is just because we already had an All-Stars and a returning Racers season (vs The World). And many of those teams should absolutely be part of an anniversary season hehe
I also included winners too since we want the best of the best. And it’s always interesting to see how previous winners might do if they come back since it’s likely they might not win on their second (or third) try.
Figuring out how to split the 24 teams, I needed to find a balance of gender pairings and then seasons as well. Like, I can’t stack one group with all the teams from a certain season. Or put all the FF teams in one group and MM in the other.
I had gone back and forth between having one group be the All-Star vets vs the other group being the first-timers. But it wouldn’t work out with needing to balance men vs women and the seasons too.
So splitting them was the solution. Though I also thought about what if all vets made it to the final 12 or all newbies. That’s an interesting dynamic, but it would be nice to still have a mix in the final 12.
Tomorrow, I’ll talk about the alternates who just missed the cut! lol
