Debuting a new Music Monday “day” today! Hehe. I’m traveling this month and as I continue to maintain my daily postings, I found I didn’t have much to post on Wednesdays as (Music) Mondays will be filled with either Gavv or Gozyuger recaps and Thursday (Tunes) will be the final episode recaps for The Amazing Race. I’m crossing my fingers I can get in some Slay recaps for Saturday (Sounds). So I wanted to still keep up with fresh music this month. And Wednesday was the only free day.
So, here is my first ever Wednesday Waves! Lolol Featuring great new music from HIGHLIGHT, TRENDZ, NEXZ, ONEUS, TXT.
“Chains” by HIGHLIGHT
Always great to have HIGHLIGHT back with fresh music. And “Chains” is a very interesting comeback track for them. This hip-hop-powered dance track gives the guys a chance to prove they are definitely not slowing down any time soon and can very much keep up with young guns in K-pop. It’s a charismatic performance that you could easily have seen from the group ten years ago! And it’s a testament to their great talent that they can deliver even more now. The other four tracks on the album are very good as well, making for another great release from the experienced vets.
“Chameleon” by TRENDZ
When I first started the music video for TRENDZ’s “Chameleon” and listening to the song, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Then the chorus kicked in and WOWOWOW. I sat there with my mouth open. This is easily the catchiest song of the year for me so far! I literally said “Wow! This is amazing!”
The pop dance track “utilizes breakbeats” in the chorus, giving it that impactful and catchy beat. And the song’s title very much suits the song’s rhythm as well, seamlessly weaving through different tempos and beats as the group sings of their similar chameleon-like qualities. A really great track. The other two tracks on the album are good, but “Chameleon” is easily my favorite. And after a couple more listens, it could become my favorite TRENDZ title track yet!
“O-RLY?” by NEXZ
NEXZ is back with their second comeback. Title track “O-RLY?” is a solid hip-hop track which the rookie group performs with a strong confidence and swagger, The chorus is also catchy and the song is very accessible. The rest of the album has a diverse mix of tracks with hip-hop, pop, and some R&B too. My favorite track might be “Slo-mo,” the album closer. A great comeback for the rookies!
“Time Machine” by ONEUS
ONEUS releases a new Japanese track and it is a great summer track. The feel-good summer getaway vibes pair well with the romantic lyrics. And it is a refreshing release from the group! Certainly lots to enjoy from ONEUS having this new track and their solo releases!
“Love Language” by TXT
Also releasing a romantic summery track is TXT with “Love Language”. The refreshing track has a catchy rhythm and melody. And it is an easily enjoyable track showcasing the group’s versatility. A great track!
