So after last week’s big changes, this week not so much.
GMA Episode 20 continues with the rest of Viu Episode 16 and then continuing into Viu Episode 17.
The GMA edit moves around some scenes again with that scene of Amelie in the pool now implemented as a nightmare for her instead of being its own event before Hector and Yana try to check on her.
I actually think it’s a good edit as it kind of emphasizes that there’s something that bumabagabags Amelie so much that she’s having nightmares. The GMA edit even did some creative editing with the actual scene too to heighten the nightmare/dreamlike feeling of it. A good cliffhanger for the GMA episode too.
GMA Episode 21 re-edits Amelie’s confession to Juro. Interestingly, the Viu version of the flashbacks to Amelie and Zach come across as cute and happy and positive. The GMA edit does not do that and even shortens the flashbacks to make them less significant. There’s also a more succinct explanation from Amelie and even removes some of Amelie’s regret and emotion.
Not sure how I feel about this edit. It kind of changes the way Amelie comes across here. In the Viu edit, the flashbacks were happy which contrasted with Amelie in the interrogation room feeling immense regret for what she did. In the GMA edit, the flashbacks felt less important and Amelie’s statement to Juro was less impactful.
So in this rare case, I prefer the Viu edit over the GMA one.
Both GMA Episode 21 and Viu Episode 17 end at the same moment! First time in a looong time!
GMA Episode 22 then starts alongside Viu Episode 18. Some switching of scenes around again to help with pacing.
Then we get a new scene of Hector following Liv outside to giver her a towel after she confronts Amelie about having an affair with Zach. It’s an alright new scene. It shows Hector really cares about Liv and also Amelie.
GMA Episode 23 picks up with the rest of Viu Episode 18 and presents the scenes unedited. The GMA episode then continues into Viu Episode 19, removing Amelie’s narration at the start. And then editing Amelie’s tea tree oil flashbacks to serve as the backdrop for Amelie, Juro and Atty. Rivero discussing that piece of evidence.
The GMA episode ends with the cliffhanger of Amelie walking out.
So a bit boring in terms of changes to the original Viu version. But that’s also good as things aren’t too different between each other. The few edits did help with pacing once again. But otherwise, nothing of consequence other than maybe portraying Amelie a bit more of a victim than the original version did.
