I don’t know, but this might be my favorite week of Slay episodes yet! Though now, I really do prefer the GMA TV broadcast episodes over the Viu version as I feel the pacing is better and it includes deleted storylines. (Which I still don’t understand why.)
But this week’s (last week’s, with the delayed uploading to Viu) Episodes 29 to 32 were so much fun. Probably the most fun four episodes of the series yet. I laughed a lot. I cheered characters on to slap other characters. It was great. Lolol And we even got a McDo commercial too! lol
Let’s go through the episodes.
Episode 29 quickly revealed what we figured all along. Mama Marga was Byron’s girlfriend. And apparently it wasn’t just a sugar mommy situation. Though perhaps it started out that way. For Byron, it was quick money and some good sex. For Marga, it was to fulfill her needs since Hector obviously wasn’t giving her much.
But it seems both fell in love with each other. And it was kind of hilarious to watch this bitchy Marga go soft for her boy toy!
First of all, it was great that Amelie immediately went to confront her mother about it. She knew exactly what was going on as soon as Sugar mentioned the bracelet. And awesome to see Amelie finally standing up against her mother. It was very satisfying.
But what was most interesting was seeing Marga show more care and emotion for her boytoy than she ever did for her husband and daughter. Very jarring. But I think that’s what made all of these scenes so fun and hilarious. I was looking forward to Marga being exposed as a hypocrite, but I don’t think I ever expected it in this way. And it was great!
To make things even more juicy, Hector actually knew all about it. In this episode, we see Hector confront Marga and get quite violent with her. And then getting into a fight with Byron. He even threatens to kill her and Byron as well. Aha!
Then the episode just abruptly stops when we get an impromptu McDonald’s commercial!
I literally burst out laughing during the scene of Yana enjoying some McDo. I was already laughing seeing the McDonald’s bag on the table. But the scene just went on and on! lol!
Thank you McDonald’s, I guess, for helping to pay for the show at least!
The other half of this episode focused on Inspector Georgia and Kirby starting to pursue the eye drop evidence and a new theory.
Inspector Georgia’s scene with Yana just unwittingly giving up the critical info about Liv giving them all eye drops was hilarious. Inspector Georgia’s “Thank you!” was awesome.
And then Kirby complimenting Inspector Georgia with her fast work. He would definitely be surprised by it since he had been working under Juro all this time. Lol
Also, Kirby’s one-liners continue to be hilarious as well. “Parang double dead!”
Nikki Co does a great job as the fun sidekick to the serious partner. (What is the actress’ name?!)
Episode 30 begins with narration from Yana. And at this point, I started to wonder, what if this narration and the voice overs from the ladies are coming from them at the end of the series? Like, they are all already in jail or something and they are recounting their stories. Talking about their life of killing and looking back at being murderers. Lol You never know!
The episode includes Hector, of course, rushing straight over to the family he actually loves. But I will definitely compliment the good pacing here as his return to Leona and Liv will coincide with the father and daughter becoming wanted suspects later this week.
First though, Sugar and Amelie’s scene was hilarious. “I’m freaking jogging, Sugar!” lol
The yelling at the police station was great. I’ve always said that seeing the Slaydies fighting and in conflict is good TV. That’s the kind of fun you want from a show like this.
The episode then finishes with Inspector Georgia executing her entrapment plan to see which of the Slaydies bites. She puts the eye drops on the table along with a glass of water. And she hopes that one of the Slaydies will poison the water with eye drops like they did to Zach.
Strange plan though, because why would any of them do such a thing?
I thought Inspector Georgia wanted to leave the Slaydies alone and see their reactions to having the eye drop bottle on the table. First off, hello Sugar? Why are you putting in random eye drops you see on the table! Lolol You don’t even know what they’re for!
Amelie had her overreaction tossing the bottle away. Liv seemed most suspicious hesitating to touch it and thinking about it. And Yana standing up to intentionally cover the camera when she could’ve just reach over to the eye drops was also sus.
But anyway, the highlight was Kirby making buking to Inspector Georgia’s plan.
“Daldalero ka!” lol That was amazing! But it’s not really Kirby’s fault. He’s worked under and learned from Juro, so he’s not going to be careful with things like that. He wasn’t working with common sense so far. Lol
Episode 31 had more of Amelie talking back to her mother which is awesome and well-deserved.
But the highlight of the episode was of course Sugar being a Marites in the right place at the right time, overhearing Hector and Marga’s convo revealing she was Byron’s girlfriend.
I was surprised Sugar would get on her knees to beg to Marga. But I was even more shocked that Marga would feel sorry for Sugar and then come clean about her loving Byron. Again, this is a completely different Marga than we know! So it’s fun to see. And, to be honest, I almost feel sorry for her. lol. *almost*. Not actually. lolol Especially when she might just be a great actress here. I don’t easily believe she is doing any of this out of the kindness of her heart and for her undying love for Byron. lol
More interesting dynamics as Jigger returns to the scene and turns out to be a big piece of the puzzle here too.Working with Marga to potentially blackmail her and get some money? Hey, why not? Right? Lol And Marga deserves getting fleeced lol
I honestly was ready to just believe Hector is the true culprit in Byron’s death. And I was ready to believe those steroids were actually his in the locker.
Unfortunately, as we see in the PREVIEW for Episode 33, Marga just had Jigger plant the steroids there. Like, HELLO! Why would you spoil that in the preview bro! Come on GMA and Viu!
Anyway, I’ve been suspicious of Liv for a while now. I honestly just chalked it up to how Julie Ann San Jose plays the character. But perhaps it’s because the character is written in this way. The attitude she has sometimes might be a tell on her being not-so-innocent here.
When Liv was incensed at Sugar for bringing the cops to their home hoping to arrest Hector, like HELLO! He’s the prime suspect in her brother’s death, of course she’ll point the police in the right direction.
The incredulity of Liv in this scene was so annoying that I wanted Sugar to slap her back. It was so crazy! A bit sanctimonious. And with Liv talking so much, I’m starting to think she really did kill Zach lol
Even that scene of her giving the ladies the eye drops, she sounded so sketchy. Very suspicious and, parang mayabang or something like that. I dunno.
Hector denies killing Byron, but we did see him get very violent. And it makes sense that he would never show such a personality to Leona and Liv. Not just because he’s never around them. But because he would put on his best image when he’s with them.
The funniest part of all this is Atty. Rivero has yet ANOTHER murder suspect to defend. I’m sure she’s pulling her hair out right now, wanting to quit so bad and not wanting to have anything to do with these crazy people! Lolol
I honestly would be okay with Hector and Liv being father and daughter murderers. Like, I wouldn’t mind if they ended up the actual culprits for Byron and Zach’s murders, respectively.
What if Slay is actually some psychological drama about how murderous and violent tendencies can be passed down from father to daughter. Like, the age-old question of Are monsters born or raised? Wowow! If that’s the case, then Slay will definitely slay like no other local series has!
But I doubt that’s the case. Lololol
Anyway, I think there’s two weeks left, Viu-wise? We’re only getting 40 Viu episodes I think. So that means two more weeks. The GMA version will probably go to 46 or 49 episodes (to make up for the Holy Week preemptions and the way they’ve edited the episodes in comparison).
So let’s see how these final weeks play out on Viu. And then see how the deleted storylines work themselves out on GMA!
Overall, a very fun week!
