The talented LUCY are back with a new album. And as always, they release a collection of songs with a bright and refreshing sound. “Wakey Wakey”, which they released last month ahead of the album release, is quintessential LUCY: bright, happy, energetic. It’s always easy to enjoy a LUCY performance. It even has a cute music video including a cute teddy standing in for member Gwangil who is in the military at the moment.
Double title track “Hippo” shows off LUCY’s fiercer sides which they have also showed on many tracks before. But at its heart, it still contains LUCY’s bright and refreshing sound as well.
The other tracks on the album Wajangchang/와장창 are of course just as good. My favorite might be the closing pop-rock ballad “Bleu”.
“Countdown” by TWS
TWS returns with title track “Countdown”, a refreshing pop track that suits the group’s youthful vibe with its encouraging and hopeful message. The rest of the album Try With Us is good as well. My favorite tracks might be “Lucky to be Loved” and “Random Play”.
“Rock Steady” by YOUNITE
YOUNITE is back with new album Youni-T. Title track “Rock Steady” is a funky hip-hop-powered pop dance track and showcases the group’s developed sound. Their retro-inspired sound has been good for them so far and they highlight that here. The rest of album has similar tracks, including unit tracks where the members have an opportunity to show different sides of themselves. I really like “Gasoline” as well as Eunho and Steve’s “Twilight Rush”.
